Nah but im guessing u meant illegal mod

Dont illegally mod ur car bruh

 damn near every mod is already illegal in California
Not really . What mods are illegal?

Loud sound systems, slammed cars, Front window tint, Headlights brighter than OEM, disabling factory DRLs, many exhaust systems and a TON of engine mods on older cars because of smog regulations. CA also has a law that says any engine swaps must be from the same type of car and be the same year or newer, meaning you cant swap in any older engines. Engine swaps also require all factory emissions equipment, which complicates some swaps and makes things like FI to Carb illegal. ( I believe that diesel titled cars are exempt from alot of this, which makes them a very valuable commodity in CA)

ehh

ehhh i live in Cali. While the laws with smog and modifications are definitely strict and ridiculous, it isn't as bad as people make it sound. Cars aren't getting impounded left and right for having little mods done.

I just got a notice in the mail from the DMV that I need to smog check my car even though it's only 2 years old. The hell? I'm in Cali btw

yo, you guys hear about this new law in California where if you're pulled over and the cop finds ANY mod on your car they can impound it?

What !?!

Cali car laws are so ridiculous :x :smh:

nope, heard even an intake will get it impounded if the cop likes. I was ordering some stuff from Summit and they told me about it since they have to disclose that information.

It's as easy as being at a car meet or the runs and getting busted. All in all, it'll put you back 10K.

I've heard people have been getting the old diesel trucks from Oregon, swapping them with a normal engine and not worrying about smog in Cali.

so someone has been telling you an intake can get your car impounded and it costs $10k to take care of it?

You're gullible man

Thats what im saying lol

Plus how is a cop gunna open ur hood and check ur intake and ur headers and whether u have an ls swap or something

My intake is not legal by Cali standards pain with smog

i got Cams that make my car idle crazy, huge injectors, intake, huge intercooler with the company name blasted right on it, intercooler pipes, straight pipe exhaust with no cat, and a lot more.

Just smogged my car no problem, thanks to E85 it passed the emissions test like a damn hybrid

Even if that IS true, that would be the absolute WORST case scenario. It's possible that if you take your car out for a drive, you'll get into a car accident and die. Are you gonna stay indoors for the rest of your life and never drive or be in a car, just because that could happen?

Didn't think so.

yea, that's what I was told. I'm sure it's more along the lines of other mods that are more obvious like an LS swap in a miata or something, but that's what I was told. I don't have anything to worry about, yet.

honestly, didn't eem think about the bolded part, that's a good point.

And hell no, nothing is going to stop me. Law or no law, as soon as I'm financially able to do so, I'm gonna have a badass Chevy.
