\\ Post Your Car vol. Been a minute //

ok so Ive narrowed it down for my purchase.

I'm currently looking at a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

It got 43K on the Clock.

Its Certified Pre Owned.

Comes with 3 Year / 3,000 Mile Maximum Care Limited Warranty

6-Year/80,000-Mile Powertrain Limited Warranty

They asking 25,000.

do i have any wiggle room if any to take some off the price?

also i want to put like 5K-10K down, i want payments to help establish credit.

Ive never bought a car from a dealer, everything has been private sales.

Whats the process like? Im also in New Jersey and the car is in New York.
you can always negotiate price. the amount it's always determined by what they owe on the vehicle, how long has it been sitting, what's the current market for the vehicle and their current pre--owned inventory.

how much do you want to spend? what options doesit have?

in regards to the location, you'll buy in NY but you'll end up paying NJ taxes and fees if you register the vehicle there.

is this a RWD jeep?

you might want to see what's the NADA or KBB on these.

tell them you'll do 25 out the door .... that's everything included. I believe that's a solid offer.

i don't have much experience in buying used cars, but im already learning on what to look for. i imagine i will help my gf get a used car sooner or later so i have a question.

If you consider a car with 120k miles on it, but is 15 yrs old vs a car that is 4 yrs old, but has 120k miles on it as well, would it be wrong to think that the 4 yr old car has less risk involved in terms of potential problems?

yes.

depending on what type of car of course.  a Honda with 120k miles is less of a mechanical risk than a bmw with 120k miles for example

A 4 year old car with 120k miles on it is too much if the average person drives 12k miles per year

^ exactly. Someone drove the piss out of that thing in a short amount of time.

Which also means more than likely they didn't do all of the maintenence that a car with 120k on it over a 10 year period would have

You basically put 10 years of wear and tear on a 4 year time frame :x

right but the frame is still 4 yrs old as opposed to 10 yrs old. thats where im trying to weigh the risk...120K miles aside, a 4 yr frame seems stronger than a 10 yr frame. you'd expect rust and age to take hold over a longer period of time no?

hmm this is a good point. but the risk is probably the same with a 10 yr old car too right? unless there is paperwork and/or the car drives great, can't really tell the history, regardless of age + mileage. hell it could be the 10 yr old car was well maintained but the 4 yr old car wasn't. seems like that would be something hard to tell unless u had some documents or w.e. otherwise you'd prolly go by the test drive and inspection if u kno wat to look for..

also thanks for the active feedback all. really helps :pimp:

@sreggie101  what are the 2 cars you're speaking of anyway? or was this a hypothetical thing

that would help here ya know, lol.  Like i would rather have a 2004 Honda Accord than a 2010 Prius ya know

That many miles it's probably a ton of highway miles driving to and from work everyday. That's how my Mom put like 75k on her TL within a few years of owning it, she had a crazy commute at the time.

Im willing to bet it was a car for a courier company of some sort. My company has programs in cali and arizona with clients so far out they put un godly amounts of mileage on cars. They lease them so after 3-4 years they crank up a new one. The good thing is since it is a lease and a car that someone uses for work the maintance has to be up to date because you cant have any breakdowns while you are making your runs.

o just hypothetical lol. example..i recently saw a honda dealership selling a 2009 forrester for $10k and it had like around 121k on the clock. thats why i was wondering.

120k is a lot either way and better to just stay away from that imo. just asking in the event money is tight as **** like u had only 8Gs to work with or something, what would u guys do.

Is Ford getting ready to announce a 750 HP SVT Mustang?

CNN released an interesting quote the other day while discussing the new SRT Challenger Hellcat. Apparently, CNN has mentioned that a Ford rep has told them that the next ‘SVT Mustang’ will have ‘more HP than the Hellcat’.

If that is the case, then we should all invest in firesuits and race helmets, because this next generation SVT should be stupid fast – and it is already rumored to weigh less than 3,500 lbs – , which is close to 1000 pounds less than the Hellcat Challenger – and the Hellcat just ran a 10.80 @ 126 in the 1/4 mile.

Also, it appears as if the once-rumored-dead 5.8L ‘Trinity’ motor, found in the 13/14 GT500 – could possibly make an appearance in the next gen SVT. It would make sense, because this engine already cranks out a dizzying 662 HP from the factory, and seemingly it wouldn’t take much for Ford to ‘tweak’ this motor to break the 750HP mark, which would re-establish Ford as king of the street legal land rockets.

Could we potentially see a 3500 lb, 750 HP SVT Mustang in 2016? Could we finally see a Mustang that runs a 9 second quarter mile from the factory? If your a fast car guy, this is a great time to be alive – especially if you are financially wealthy; Expect the next-gen SVT to be over the $70,000 mark, while the new Hellcat Challenger is rumored to be closer to $60,000.

Regardless, we will keep you posted as we find out more.

1000 less lbs and 750 ponies? Yikes.

Still would cop the Chally doe. Those new Stangs dont look like muscle cars at all. Current gen >>>

Chally looks way better IMO too.

But for 60-75k or whatever all these new high HP muscles cars are going for, i'd buy a used GTR over all of them any day
