My friends is copping a new new. 435i is his initial and frontrunner choice but gets pricey with the options that he wants. A5 is the weakest out of the bunch but hes highly considering it for the good reviews and AWD (main selling point, very high on his priority list of wants). I told him to look into the GT and hes fallen in love (love with the price point as well). MT is a must and $55k is top end budget.


Any other suggestions or comments? Im trying to sway him out of the 435i but hes partial to luxury whips. A5 is a solid choice for the AWD but when you hear 435i and Mustang GT as comparison cars you kinda forget the Audi.

Personally, GT all the way. Aint even tryna add to this V8 talk but that rumble sounds amazing.

If you aren't a car guy, I'm assuming you aren't installing anything yourself. So you might as well just go down to a couple local car audio Shops and see what they can do for you. Count on spending at least 600 for a half decent head unit, speakers, a sub and a amp all installed. That's a low end price, for a nice quality, loud setup, you'll be spending more.

What if I can get the labor for free or almost free , what am I looking at for something with good sound ( I want my ish to crank but I still wanna hear my music, not distortion or my car rattling) and durable

Car audio is VERY subjective. For example, in my GF's old car, I installed a cheap Kenwood Deck ($150), a pair of 6.5"'s and 6x9"s ($100 for all 4) and a bazooka tube (small all in one powered subwoofer, was $200). So that was about $450 worth of parts, plus some wires to install it all. She was stoked on it, and thought it was awesome and sounded great. I thought it was ok, nothing special, had a little bit of bass but nothing to write home about.

What you're describing can be very expensive. A half decent headunit is gonna run you around $150-200. If you want nice clean and clear sound, components up front would be the way to go, preferably 6.5" if they fit your car. A decent set of those are gonna be around $150. A set of 6x9's would be fine just to provide some rear fill, around $100 for a decent set of those. To really get the most out of those speakers, you'd want to run an amp for them. There's another $150-200 for a decent one. So we're already at $550-650 just in parts, and still no subs, no amp for the subs, no wires needed for installing everything, no labor, and no sub box. However, that would be a REALLY nice, clear, and loud setup.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to your budget. For a very nice, high quality setup, you're looking at around $1000-1100 in parts. Having said that, a lot of people would be really happy with the type of setup I got for my GF, which was around $450. Figure out just how nice a setup you want, and go from there. You can always do it in stages too, do a nice deck, speakers, and a amp for the speakers. Then, later down the road, go all out and get some subs, a box, and amp for the subs. Or, skip on the amp for the speakers, and use that $150-200 towards a sub and an amp instead, and get an amp for the speakers later.

Remember, you can always add on amps and subs later. But definitely start out with a nice headunit and quality speakers, you don't wanna do things twice.
