This is the dumbest article.

He only compared them because he drove them back to back?

He writes "I wasn’t. In terms of pure driver appeal, the 455-hp, naturally aspirated, 6.2-liter, V-8-powered, six-speed-manual Camaro simply outclassed the 320-hp, turbocharged, 3.0-liter, I-6-powered, six-speed-manual BMW. The Chevy had more tactile and communicative steering, crisper throttle response, better brake feel, superior high-speed body control, and sweeter chassis balance. It danced around the handling track, feeling remarkably light on its feet. Turn-in response was quick and authoritative, and with all the electronic nannies off, it could drift through corners with Ken Block confidence levels. I got out of the Camaro grinning. When I exited the BMW? Not so much."

What did he expect would happen? A 455 HP V8 outclassing a 320 HP I6....no ****!

And of course he would be grinning coming out of the camro after driving the BMW, the camaro is a quicker car, better handling, faster lap times, etc.

Dumb comparison to hype up Chevy :smh:

How you have a RIPEVO plate on a non STi?
Its more of a farewell to a long lasting rivalry since well the EVO is, no more? Pulled up in front of a modded EVO 8 the other day with tags "1BAD EVO" . Dude gave me a head nod and we went on our ways  all in the spirit of competition. As for it not being an STI, Im not running around with wings & badges tryna front. After I get this protune from IAG I should at least be able to keep up with some

I don't know bout the Subaru man I just assume all of the are awd and turbo'd I dunno fam

Teach

I've always wanted to get plates that say WHY TRY, but I've never had anything that was seriously fast, and would be able to back that up

One day!

So apparently the "AWD" focus RS is just a mustang ecoboost engine, boosted to 24lbs?

Anyone have any info on this?

If it's relevant, my STI is boosted at 24lbs. right now. I think like 16psi stock, and it makes nearly 100whp more than the RS at 24 lbs. This is why I'm asking if it's true or not. It doesn't make any sense.

Not to talk down your car by any means, but isn't stock rs=345hp? Your's was a very low 30xwhp, with e85? On 93, I would think the RS has more whp?
I see lol

Basically
Well then

My car baselined at about 240whp on a mustang dyno on only 16psi, RS is at 24psi straight out of the factory. "Stage 2" which is a downpipe and tune put me at just over 300 at around 20psi, and E85 with a conservative tune (24psi) put me at 343whp/409tq on a mustang dyno. E85 reaps more benefits with a bigger turbo and a more aggressive tune.

I forgot what your car did, thought it was low 300s on e85. I also remember JR telling me I would gain 70-75whp with just e85 when he tuned my old car, so thought 93 would have you way lower.

I think with some simple mods the RS will make amazing power for what it is. I still would always choose the STI over it

Damb! what would this thing make with upgraded internals?

Single turbo 100% stock unopened long block

Sounds kinda like a supra

Yeah 100% streetable. In fact I have already taken a 6hr road trip in it averaging 23mpg on e85. Raced all weekend and then drove it back home. In fact, aside from the clutch being on the grabby side I would say it's a perfect street car.

Yea it looks like they already did most of the modding, so I'm curious to see what you can still do to it depending on the size of the turbo. I'm assuming they didn't max it out.

But then you come into seeing how much power their stock block can take. If it comes with forged internals from the factory they can up the boost significantly if the turbo allows it. Which will be :smokin
The RS is already maxed out from the factory, but an upgrade tune and mods are still available through Ford under warranty that will put it closer to 400hp. I can't wait for car reviews to see how it drives and compares to the Golf R, STI, and Civic Type-R. Matt Farrah placed his order a few months ago, so hopefully he can give an unbiased review. It already comes out the gate with the more hp, but the driving experience is more important IMO. They've been selling pretty well so far considering most dealerships are charging over MSRP.

Because an antiquated pushrod V8 is totally what's responsible for communicative steering, brake feel, body control, and chassis balance. Right

The Camaro wasn't praised because it's power-plant allows it to do "Wicked Burnouts", "Hectic Skids" or other traditional muscle car fun. It's being praised because it's a cheap car known for nothing more than acceleration that now offers more responsive handling, better steering feel, stability through corners, etc. than a brand once renowned as "The Ultimate Driving Machine". This comparison would have never happened 10-15 years ago. The driving dynamics of even the lowliest 3 series in 2002 put those of the 4th gen Camaro to shame. That's no longer the case.

GM's killing the game with their Alpha platform. It's an amazing chassis that's been receiving stellar reviews on the ATS and CTS. The lower curb weight on the Camaro just lets it shine even brighter.

I literally stopped reading at "340i"

But I didn't want to say anything. It was a little silly to compare them.

Right... It is pretty silly to compare the 35k OHV Chebby to the 46k Twin Turbocharged BMW 340. They obviously should have used the 66k M4 for the comparison. Nah... scratch that, the 134k M4 GTS would have been a much more reasonable comparison.

 Im not loyal to any car make. Just an enthusiast and realize every car has its strengths & weaknesses. Hell I considered everything from an E46 to a Focus ST as well the new AWD performance offerings mentioned earlier. Really thought an EVO X was gonna be my next whip up until last year tho lol. Right now Im enjoying the hell outta my Subie.

Not really surprising. The ATS-V is pretty much a better car than the F8x M3, which is hard to believe. BM kinda dropped the ball on the F chassis. You would think with a turbo it'd be so much better. The E9x may be lower on power, but its still the better whip.

I mean like, usually you'll have similar cars you rival with, with similar performance and price range.

It seems as if the 340i had no idea what was going on. It was just trying to be a comfortable sedan to get groceries in, while someone comes up besides it and starts redline revving its engine at it in a stoplight and yelling out the window "race me!", having the driver with a look of confusion. I'm usually bad at these kinds of things, but you get my point

Kinda agree with you here.

It's because the 3 series has been considered a benchmark for handling and chassis dynamics for decades regardless of its ///M or not.

And I would imagine no one was taking a 3 series sedan from the prior generation and then comparing it to a muscle car.
