Also, I'm running a catch can on my Lightning. Pretty common mod on these trucks, in my case they function to prevent your intercooler getting clogged with oil and looking like this :x

One of these days I need to tear off the intake manifold on my truck and clean mine, definitely looks like a big job though.

Have you considered an AOS? How often do you empty the can?

I haven't touched my AOS since it was installed nearly a year ago. I would recommend one, but the catch can can work fine if its oil levels as well as your engine's oil levels are properly monitored and maintained, since it doesn't send any oil back to the crank case. The AOS does.
I haven't considered an AOS, the no emptying thing does sounds nice. But the last time I checked my catch can there was barely anything in it, so it's not like I have to constantly empty it or worry about running out of oil with it installed as is.
 
It prevents excess oil from going back into the intake. It's more of a preventative measure but from what I know the motor will be fine with or without one. The harder you drive the car the quicker it will fill up. I know guys with LSx's that have to empty the can after a few hundred miles.
Preciate the response my man. Yeah that's mostly what I've heard. I know guys like to see what's coming outta their cars as well as what's going in, but I'm not into the whole oil analysis business anymore unless it involves helicopters and F/A-18 jets lol. But like you said should be good with or without, all I needed to know thanks again. Repped.
 
Thanks for all the responses guys, really appreciate it. I actually have two set of oem wheels, so I figured I would just paint one, as i think it might make them look great being one solid color instead of two.

I love regular cab short box trucks, I've had 2 Sierra's in that body style. Both were great to me. Price seems pretty reasonable to me as well, if it's clean inside out I think that's a good deal.

Although me personally, I'd be searching for one with the 4.8 or 5.3 in it.

Ehh if I was looking for a fun truck then yeah the 5.3 would be a go but I'm just looking for a good daily. This truck is my job's delivery truck. My dad sometimes drives it too. They're replacing all the trucks with vans so that's why they're selling it. The owner of the restaurant is giving my dad a deal since he's been with the company for 20+ years

The 2 Sierra's I used as daily drivers both had the 4.8, they actually weren't terrible on gas, considering they were a truck. A 5.3 in a regular cab short box is almost impossible to find. I daily my Lightning too, what's gas mileage? :lol: . My commute however is pretty short, so that's probably a big factor.

I hear ya though man. I loved both my Sierra's as dailys, never really had any problems with them, both were pretty solid trucks. That truck would be a good daily as well, I think you would be happy with it. Is it the work truck package (no options, probably a rubber floor), or does it have power options with it? Lots of aftermarket stuff for those too if you end up going that route down the line. A 4/6 drop on them look perfect IMO.

The thing I love about regular cab short box's is they are really roomy on the inside, since they are full size trucks, but are still pretty easy to drive around, park, etc, since they aren't too long. I will however say that going grocery shopping in them is a bit of a pain, we take my fiance's car instead since there's no where to really put the groceries if you buy a lot :lol:

Yup. There are a LOT of fast turbo'd 4.8L Silverado and Sierra's out there making big power.

Yea, most of the RCSB's are the work package, especially if it's the V6. From the factory they actually sit pretty high, that one does look extra high though. As far as lowering, toss a flip kit on the rear, and spindles and springs up front, and it'll look good :smokin
