Whats the difference between the NY plates anyway, why are there 2 different types?

Da blind guy patterson when he was interim governor signed a law to update da plates (as a money grab) but last second backlash allowed you to keep your old plates.

But after seeing those pics you took, you are going to have to run some kind of spacer more than likely, which shouldn't be a problem with what you're trying to fit.

this idiot musta gave me the wrong offsets.  Unless the clearance gets better when the suspension isn't hanging

Nope, DCT.
This might be the dumbest question ever and I'm sorry for this lol, but is there anything specific you're supposed to do while driving with the DCT? Only time I've ever tried was with an e46 M3 I tried out at a small dealership.

I asked dude if there was anything I needed to do and he said no treat it like an automatic. When I was driving, it kept feeling like it wasn't switching gears and I'd keep revving but going nowhere at random times - slowing down or speeding up.

If that was my fault...my bad

That's SMG in the e46, which is total garbage, not a dual clutch like the E92.

M

While I do miss the SMG so much, it was slower and so prone to issues. Mine went out @ 56k and it was 9k repair thankfully covered by extended warranty. Damn do I miss that SMG though.

Besides speed and responsiveness, how does a DCT differ from a traditional automatic? Im talking driving feel. Does it just shift smoother and faster or something?

6 speed >

Way faster, like not even comparable. One clutch has a gear engaged and the 2nd clutch has the next gear in line and ready to go as soon as you tap that paddle. Also rev matches on downshifts which is awesome. As for driving feel, It's really like driving a manual without the 3rd petal. You can feel the clutch engaging when you take off, the car will roll back if you take your foot off the brake at a stop light, it will not shift for you as you approach the redline, if you don't shift, it's going to sit and bounce off the limiter. And it shifts very hard, it will chirp the tires when you shift into 2nd and 3rd gear at WOT. as can be heard during the 2nd to 3rd shift in this video of my car from the first week i got it:

and 7spd>>>>>6spd

Great post, repped.

And that last statement youre saying its better than a manual? Still a firm believer that nothing can replace an actual clutch and gears to row through.

nah i just meant in general 7 speeds is better than 6.  Performance wise dual clutch transmissions have definitely taken over though, there isn't a debate there.

i do love manual trans and was planning to get a manual M3 until i drove both. This car is just better in DCT. Something about the low torque just makes the DCT a much better driving experience than the manual. And the manual gearbox in the E92 doesn't feel that great anyway.

But im still a manual lover.  when i get a GT3 it will 100% be a manual

Bro my best advice would be to get a set of 3 and 5mm spacers, then try to find a used 275/30 tire throw it on one wheel and see how it fits. When I first test fitted mine they hit in the same spot and I freaked out, so I walked in my garage, got my 5mm spacer and threw it on and BOOM it fit perfectly. You aren't trying to slam the car so you will be fine I promise.

Did you have it in manual mode? If you do then you have to use the paddle shifters or the shifter to change the gears.

The DCT can actually be a little rough at times and almost feel like it stalls at in first, I have a tune on mine and if I leave it in auto mode it changes fast as ****.

Jeep is looking awesome man. Good call on removing the rear emblem

Thanks bro!

Thanks for posting fam :pimp:
Would you trade it in for a hellcat version if they make it fam? :nerd:

I will do it if I can only get the car at sticker. I wont do it for above msrp, that **** is for suckas.

You mean Trackhawk :pimp:

Love the switch up on the plate as well very clean

I prefer the white ones but the white ones I had, the front one was all ****** up bc it had a ding on it a long long time ago and my dumb *** took a regular hammer to it to try and get the dent out, instead of a rubber mallet. lol

Took me a while to get the plate.

Whats HTML code for the smh emoji anyway?

Just left a shop that had a fisker in a bay and he said it's the biggest POS car he's ever worked on. 6,000 miles on it and it's completely locked up, front tires are bald. He's got to get a tow truck to drag it out of his garage.

But it's beautiful

Wanted to share with NT, hard work pays off. My plan coming to fruition. Surprising Mom with a new Lexus RX 350 to end 2014. For all the hard work and sacrifice.
Took a bit longer than planned, but the dream has been realized. Will have to snap pics for NT. Mom is very happy to say the least and loves her new car!

Pops' Porsche will be next, before I turn 30.

Jeep looking TOUGH. Scoop me for a spin, brotha.

That is dope Champ! Glad you got that for moms. She def deserves it. :smokin And I KNOW you will do the same for your pops. Man of your word.

Yea brotha we gotta link up soon. Lets try to plan something out.

Two new mods.

Set of Wk1 srt rims

And the rear jeep logo was deleted (had to have the panel filled bc the stock badge is recessed in the panel)

Before:

After:

Also threw on a set of gloss black reps. :D

And I had to get a show n go license plate holder. NYPD railed me for 6 or 7 tickets in 1 week a couple months ago.

Gorgeous. Saw a red joint on the Bay Bridge this past Sunday....

See this makes me torn. I've been so dead set on getting a charger after my Camaro but seeing how '14 Overlands are going for the low, I might have to make that move...unless I find a 14 SRT Charger for a decent price.
