EA is cash cow liquidator for the company... It turns product into cash, granted its all minimal profit margins..

EA 50s were only 3-4x a year (coreect me if im wrong) before the recession hit. FTL plummeted and went to the EA 50 once a month way.
2-3x a year is too little, economy is still slow...oh well...guess that means less exclusions?

i've heard this before too... not a bad idea imo. and if youre going to spend over $500 a month in employee sales, you're getting a lot of merchandise

The reason for the decline in 50% is because of 3 things. 1. The company makes little money on 50% off. 2. Stores abuse the discount to no end and footlocker isn't stupid and they what's going on. 3. When the old CEO matt Serra retired and the new CEO ken hicks came in he brought his (j penny) previous company attitude with him and hated the extra discount on top of a already fair discount.

Plus they don't need the employee discount to thrive. Why allow a discount on a shoe that will sell out to the public? The majority of footlocker employees use their discount to buy retros, foams, AF1, Air Max etc..... They would all sell fine at full price.

not sure how you guys are saying FTL doesnt need the sale price or discount sales etc and that full price merchandise will sell...with jb and nike releasing so many shoes at a short period with so many colorways of one shoe...units dont move that fast...of course its a given that the stuff that everyone wants i.e. foams etc will sell on RD but what about the other shoes and merchandise??

plus GENERALLY shoes like those sought after sell out on RD or that week, so how does the EA affect those sales if they arent even around? they need the discount because people wont buy AS MANY as they would without the CA or EA around. if they dont sell they get marked down and if they dont really sell they get RTV'd and end up in the outlets, thus still low sales numbers. People wont pay full price unless its a limited or hot item but how many of those items release are like that when you consider the whole seasonal line drops from the brand x all the cw that drop and all the other stuff (clothing, accessories etc.).

they need us as much as we need them to have sales and promotions.

Footlocker has had enough of sneakers being bought on EA and then returned by a non employee to a different store for full price credit. And if you don't think there hip to it.... Your wrong. That is where the $ loss comes into play. And employees put the marquee product in the "hold section" until a EA comes up. So it is being bought on EA. And RTV's are how they get money back for shoes that didn't sell as forecasted via contract, no money lost...money gained.
