Putting aside the fact that Pau Gasol was essentially the missing piece to help the Lakers win 2 championships, when you really think about this trade, was it really that bad of a trade?  Honestly?
The Grizzlies were rebuilding, and looking for two things.  Young talent and cap space.  They clearly got the cap space, and they got two young talents in Marc Gasol and Javaris Crittenton (one worked out, one didnt).

So NT, looking at this trade now, was it REALLY all that bad?  IMO, it was a great trade for both teams.

You're cool and all, but why the cap locks?

As for the deal itself, ya Mem got a viable player in Marc, but it was still a sweetheart deal.

So you think its cool to give a team there missing piece for nothing .......

Go yo %!% to bed

How did they get nothing though?
And people act like Pau was a superstar or something.  Prior to the trade, Pau had made all of 1 All Star game and had never been on an All-NBA team.

I had a good feeling about this team in the summer but wow. I'm not saying anything yet, but Warriors look really good. I'm excited for the rest of the year.

To be honest, i thought it was really lopsided when i first heard it, but it wasnt so bad after i looked into it.

Still feel the same way, although LA definitely got the better end of the deal.

It looks much worse because the Lakers have had a lot of success with Pau.

However Pau was pretty much gift wrapped for them.

It was a good trade for both teams. Pau made it known he did not want to be in Memphis anymore and Memphis needed a radical change. If I remember correctly, Memphis didn't shop him for too long before the trade was pulled.

Ending up with cap space (used to acquire Zach Randolph), Marc Gasol, Darrell Arthur and Greivis Vasquez was a solid return though. Would rather have that than ending up with overpaid talent (Bulls were rumored for years).
