earlier then 2005...

i guess you can say jim jones pioneered it for hood cats to start sizing down

I def started sizing down in 2005-2006. Was rocking a lot of Abercrombie and Hollister then. And lil Hot Topic type graphic tees. Was DEF in the minority then tho.

this is what you would see in da hood around mid 2000's..that "transitional phase" where da baggy era was still around but started to give way to

cats that were slimming down around them as shown by freekey zeke and capo

in washinigton heights dominicans been dressing tight and slim since at least late 90's...same thing with those west indians in brooklyn

and Jamaicans..they were always dressing slimmer then da average cats.

But baggy pants are very much still around in the south. Dudes erywhere dressed like lil boosie and dmx. But i mean ,thats there thing. I aint hatin.

Since you "get what he's doing" ,and he is such a good "friend" care to explain what it is his vision is with the brand??

Also why the name "pyrex"  ?  Thanks in advance.

and   @ proto trying to clown anyone for the way they dress

I don't care to explain.

That's the one good part of getting fat in your 30s - now all those XXL rugbys you bought in like '96 are just comfortably roomy, not insanely huge.

The Dominicans and West Indians have basically always been on their own pretty boy steez - not necessarily what the rest of the hood was doing.

But, overall, I think you give Dip Set way too much credit in this. I think more influence came from the re-integration of skater culture and hip hop, as well as the growth of influence from Japanese streetwear and higher-end denim. The Dip Set cats may have been on the bandwagon early, but none of those dudes, other than Killa, are even mainstream artists with real spheres of influence.

^Not all Dominicans. Lol. We did things a bit different out in Corona. My neighbors when I was stationed in VA Beach were from the Heights, and we rarely saw eye to eye on fashion. I drew a lot of inspiration from JuJu of the Beatnuts and them cats from the 'Bridge. But for the most part yeah, its like that. I didn't think I dressed hood at the time, it just what was goin on at the time. Only thing I knew then, was I dressed like a New Yorker. But I'm also from an era where you could tell where cats where from, by the way they dressed or talked. Don't know what time period all that began to go away, but it has. All love though. But I know one thing, being in my mid 30's, I'll be damned if I let some kid run up on me in a pair of aqua skinny jeans.

maybe just me but there's something to be said for dressing and carrying yourself like you're one snap away from throwing hands or stealing something versus dressing like you're one eyelash away from becoming a full blown woman. i don't dress baggy and never really did but i prefer that look over much of the foolishness as i scroll through this thread. even now that i'm a daddy, i think i'd rather have my son come home one day wearing an xxl shirt carrying a louisville slugger than wearing a pyrex skirt and some balmain loafers

Fair point. Most Queens Dominican heads were not on that - as Ninja said, that was more of an Uptown thing. And, you could definitely guess what borough a dude was from just by looking at him back in those days.

Good to see Corona on the check in though.

Nah. Boosie ain't been gone that long. He was slimmin' it up. Lotta hoods in the South still on 3x and baggy jeans tho.

Cuz called it on the jackets gettin' wider. Used to grab the tall sizes. :smh:

   Thats bc you cant explain.  there is no "vision" behind that trash.  If you cared about your city and about the youth you would'nt support this trash, but Im just a hater bc I cant understand the vision or the art of the brand.     some of you ride so hard

Youth? City? It's just clothes bro.
You're caring way TOO much about something neither of us has control of. Just get over it.
If you don't like it then don't buy it. Simple as that.

just jukes and jives when it comes to the truth.  I asked a simply question and he cant answer bc he dosent know. His "friend" has a brand that is called "pyrex" -what is the first thing that comes to mind?  You would think if the designer was actually proud and cared about his city and the young he would'nt try so hard to glorify drug use and negativity.

wished people still dress like that nowadays.

I got gear like that, but when people look at me, they think I'm some gangster or something, shoot. The reason i started where baggy clothes was because of my mother, she was like "it's going to fit you eventually".

Queens dude in the 90's wore army fatigue, or was this an all borough thing?
