This probably isn't the right place for this question, but not sure where else to put it, but I always kinda wondered...do people in the 25-30 age range like 16/17s more than others??
Im 38 ( i know im an old man compared to most of you).  The only ones i liked were the coppers.   But i hated the series because they came out when MJ was on the Wizards.  And they remind me how bad he was during that time.

Haha. 36 here. I'll join you in the "old man" group!

31 here and the XVI is my fav. numbered Jordan. I was a Sr in high school when these came out and they were the most unique sneaker I had seen in a long time. My friends knocked them until they saw them on foot. Joints sat for a while though, even with the PX discount (living in Seoul at the time).

We're never getting a high quality Jordan retro again. Never. They're making too much producing the "same" shoe, with cheaper materials, in higher quantities, to better yields than ever before.

NEVER.

You are indeed correct. It is a race to the bottom and I am sure they are looking at ways for making the retro products even cheaper to produce while at the same time raising prices.

Next year being the 30th anniversary, I wouldn't say never....

that's a weird thing for you to say...

This is how I feel about most pairs nowadays. Do it right or just let them be.

my thoughts exactly, and that's why I am super selective of what retros to get.

1. quality is getting worse and so is the msrp
2. EVERYBODY and their mother has every pair of recent jordans where I live. I cant go anywhere without seeing a bunch of beasts.
3. I just cant keep up with all the ish they pump out. not to mention online releases/rsvps are damn near impossible :smh:

If JB keeps releasing 5 shoes every week of the year of course the quality with be ******.

The more they have to produce, the cheaper they're going to outsource.

Fewer releases = more money to spend of better materials.

JB can actually make shoes like they used to, if they stopped bastardizing every shoe with garbage color ways.

Notice how when the shoes were better, there were fewer color ways?

They want more money fast. And hitting you with releases over the head every week making you feel like you "need" them all is them just slow stroking your bank acct.

True... but here's the issue with that.

They never give you everything. Jordan Brand treats the retro product like EA Sports treats Madden. They give you something you want (premium materials, retro branding, etc.) all so they can cut corners on things that actually matter (The shape of a shoe being completely different makes it a different shoe entirely. You can't retroactively produce a 67 Corvette with a 72 Corvette bumper modified to fit a 67 and call it a true 67).

For example. All of the recent 2013, 2014 Air Jordan 1 High's have toeboxes that are not sleek in any matter. The shape is somewhere between an Air Force 1 and a Roller Blade. I have 2001 Black/Red AJ1's and Banned's. When I saw they were retro producing the blk.red for DEC 13 I was PSYCHED. But after getting the KNICKS, ROYALS, AND BLACKTOES, I had to come to grips that it wasn't even remotely the same shoe. "Premium" leather (2001 have a better material, this just has some treatment), a similar colorway (they won't even go so far as to color match the color, when Nike OWNS all its own colors :smh:), and a bunch of manufactured hype by both sneaker blogs and messages boards ("influencers" again :smh:).

Sorry for the thread de-rail. Just interesting that this thread really used to show an interesting view into "celebrities" who were sorta pseudo-NT's because they were spotted in the "inside guy" sneakers... and now Jordan Brand just sends boxes and boxes of all these "highly sought after" retros to all these celebrity "sneakerheads".

Props to the Swoosh.
