Alot of us from the DMV was in the "game" before it was hot! This area was rockin Foams, ACG's, New Balance, etc; since before the hypebeast faze! Back in 97 when I was in college in NC, bammas tried to laugh me out for wearing the Orlando Blue Penny's! The 1st foams! SMH. I bet them same bammas rockin Foams acting like the hypebeast they are. SMH... again!

A lot of people were.... My point is, a lot of dudes out here saying Wale ruined the "game" because he's famous and is into kicks.... Most of those dudes don't realize he was into kicks before his celebrity status was mainstream.

Yup. AN NTer is his right hand man (from HS) and is a VERY WELL known sneakerhead in the DMV. He's really cool peeps, we used to line up for SB's back in 04-05 out at Elite.

edit: hell we was getting foams easily down here until 2-3 years ago...they always sat on shelves

Honestly thought most people knew this, but people generally didn't like dude or his music and that's where he copped criticism, I never knew people criticised him for what you posted

Labels are so corny. Tastemaker, shoe enthusiast, shoe affectionado....us old ***, 30 plus year olds just liked shoes as kids and it was more attainable with adulthood.

These kids now a days don't understand that asking for Jordans was a belt whooping lying in wait. I know a lot of us got 2 pairs a school year...these kids now a days get 2 pairs a week.

this too.. i got 1 pair at the start of the new year.. it was a BIG deal to me... ahh.. the nostalgia 
 
^^^better yet I maybe got 2-3 pair a year and 2 pair was copped from the nike outlets lol... I agree with most, we were just kids that admired shoes growing up and attained in adulthood. Personally copped for nostalgic and sentimental reasons.

And to add, once he was somewhat established, had money to buy whatever sneakers he wanted. Which he mentioned towards the end.
