I was looking at the Mike Vick post, and remembered that his shoes didn't exactly move large amounts of units. You also don't see them issuing Tebow sig shoes.
Who was the last NFL player to actually help Nike? Bo Jackson?

IMO, signing football players does little for footwear, which is kind of why I think UA signing Tom Brady was pointless.

Prime Time was probably the last person before Vick to move units. And Vick's line was doing ok before the dog fighting thing.

everybody in the league was wearing LaDainian Tomlinson cleats a few years ago, i'd imagine they sold well

Not really, just hard for them, in the NFL teams sell, not individuals. There are exceptions of course. I think the UA signing of Tom Brady wasn't just to sell shoes, but to justify and solidify the brand a bit

I remember Lamar Odom rockin' the Vick 1 many times during the 03-04 season as a member of the Heat. The Vick 2 was a great shoe.

Well I think its hard for NFL players to move units. Basically because you have to market their shoes as a cross trainer but NFL players wear cleats and its hard to get a cross trainer to match up with a vapor type shoe that most skill players wear now. The only attempt Ive seen to try do a shoe thats very similar is Troy wore a Free Trainer with a nubby bottom

From what I recall during my middle school years were:
Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders, Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Brett Favre, And my all time favorite Junior Seau (air mission aka my holy grail from '94)

For my old school cats/nt'ers: who remember the Rod Woodson's??? If you too young, how about Jerome Bettis'

Ahhhh...the memories
