Amar'e Stoudemire is overrated.

the knicks basically spent money just to spend money.  they needed to sign someone to keep the fans from complaining.
the better free agents want to win, not have their careers rot in new york.

You guys are ******ed. You think Melo would be begging to come to the Knicks to play with David Lee? What other STARS would have David Lee as their first choice of another player to play with? Amare is a star in the league and is a face the franchise can market, Lee wasn't no matter what his stats say. I GUARANTEE that another high-profile player will be a Knick in the next year, whether it's Melo or not. And Amare will be the main reason that star player comes to the Knicks. That's worth every penny they gave him.

Amare really is over-rated though. When has he ever carried a team on his shoulders and willed them to victory? The Suns won 54 games in 2005 with him, he misses pretty much all of 2006 and yet they still won 61 games without him.

And as much as I dislike him, Bosh Spice is better than Amare but both of them are charmin soft.

That being said, bringing Amare to NYC was important for the fan base and management know he's just one piece of the puzzle. I still think that even if the Knicks land another star in the near future (Melo, Paul or whoever), they'll still end up being disappointed with Amare's performances.
