I dont rock with Cudi so i dont listen to him...Im not gonna sit around and think of different scenarios for me to like his music.

J.Coles subject matter = Illmatic without as much lyrical prowess as NaS

You say he needs to change it to drop mainstream but thats all apart of his image. Mainstream subject matter is very stagnant, redundant and shallow. He's the guy who everyone is pulling for because he is coming with something different than money #%$%*%+ and weed.

Honestly i could care less about his commercial success , kinda like how die hard Nas fans dont mind him doing what he wants...If he hasnt dropped by this time next year but gives us 2-3 more great mixtapes he good money with me.

All i care about is good music ( yes sounds corny), and what hes put out so far has been very good imo. Sometimes yall get too caught up in how well these albums perform and all types of $#!@

thats not what im saying... in order to have any success as an artist ur art has to be available... if dude is just signed for years and never drops an album then what? they arent gonna drop his album wit the !$!$ he's making now... thats my point... he's either gonna have to leave/get dropped and do it indie or conform and make some !$!$ people might actually pay for...

Nobody has a problem with his subject matter, he just hasnt had that 1 addictive song that'll drive people nuts.

You think drunk people in a club give a dam about lyrics , i dont think so..Word to the obvious wack rappers that get non stop spins.
If he gets that 1 catchy hook, everybody will be talkin about paying back student loans or w/e u think his subject matter is.

If anything we need more people like him in hip hop, we got enough swagged out coke kingpins in the game already.

At the end of the day IDC what you say, he's still my favorite rapper, I'm not saying he's the best out, but he's my favorite. I got to see him in concert about a month ago, was 5 feet away. Was my favorite concert of the 3 I've been to this year. (Em/Jay, Cudi, and this.)

You do have some valid points as far as his content not appealing to the masses. That's what I'm afraid of, for him to appeal to the world he'll have to switch up his subject matter which I don't want to see.

I still don't see how someone who likes Lupe so much can call Cole boring. You obviously have some good taste. And yes I still rank Lupe > Cole, I just enjoy Cole a tad more.
