after the first time of me wearing the air max basketball shoes... i thought it is absolutely bad idea to come out with low top....

Nike know these are a hard sell at $150 retail.
All it's really about is pushing up the wholesale price. Once Nike get paid, they don't care too much what retailers have to do to move the shoe.
What are they going to do instead? Put in a big order with Reebok?
Nike are effectively the only game in town and can do what ever they like.
