--[ TOP GEAR U.K SERIES 24 Started Mar. 6 ]--[The GRAND TOUR ]

Fairly entertaining two-part special. I spoiled the ending for myself since I watched the YouTube videos a couple months ago when they first released.

The ending was definitely more hostile than the gas station incident in Alabama

Ohh **** the Scarface Porsche :smokin

The one that he escaped the club with when them ****** tried to get him got :smokin

And the Spy Who Loved Me submarine car :wow:

Bout to start watching.

EDIT: Odd that it's Jeremy in the Porsche

No surprise Hammond in the Mustang

Sick episode.

Of course the Mustang sucks. Piece of TRASH American cars. Somehow Ford is the only one of the big 3 that didnt need a bailout. The other two should be dead, you know, being that is how capitalism works and all that.

Wish I had the cash to do something like this.

The American Gangster Score :smokin

Can't wait for today's episode

Ford got a 25 billion dollar bailout... 2 years before the other 2 did.

Also keep in mind it's a British program.... they've never given an American car a positive review on air. Clarkson had nothing kind to say about the Corvette ZR1 on air, but ended up choosing it as best car of the year. Top Gear isn't an automotive review show anymore. It's become a satire of itself. The show is still very entertaining, but don't ever take anything they say seriously.

I'm not saying they are saying American cars are crap. I'm outright saying they are trash myself. Nobody wants those ugly ***, piece of **** outside a straight line cars. Only way those idiots can survive is with dozens of billions of taxpayer money to recover from being ****.

I remember Chevy RECENTLY finding out that independent suspension is a thing when they brought the Camaros back

Or the cross america special where the Challenger could barely turn and move about 50 MPH

 Nobody wants them ? GM is the second best selling auto manufacturer globally (closely following Toyota) and the lowly Ford Focus is the single best selling car in the world.

America makes some great cars. As does Germany, Japan and even Korea.

The majority of American cars were never made for handling or cornering. Such a market was rather niche in America for some time. This is largely due to Americas grid style road/city layouts and the extremely long straightaways on American highways. Because of this, American cars have traditionally emphasized power and straight line speed. It was a bit of a vicious cycle that American cars didn't need to "turn" and nobody bought them for handling, so manufacturers didn't focus on handling, and so American cars couldn't "turn", et cetera.

Even today, the Corvette and the Viper, both of which are powerful with a emphasis on handling, are still primarily bought to show off and drag race. Their turning ability makes little difference to the average buyer. The same can be said for most Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche owners. The reality of the situation is 95% of these high performance machines wont ever be pushed anywhere close to their limits.

tldr - America has made cars that can handle very well and more recently has been producing world class cars with amazing handling. But for decades their market simply didn't care for it.

As for the bailouts... on one hand I don't agree with them, as they go against the essence of capitalism. But I also realize how devastating it would be to the entire economy to let a company the size of GM or Ford fail. Even Toyota, Honda and BMW have been recipients of government subsidies because they know how valuable they are to the economy as a whole.

Spare me the history lesson. I knew all that. The cars are garbage. That was all I was tryna get across.

But I will say I do like the ZR1 but not for the price range. If I had ZR1 money I would definitely get the GTR.

Speaking of which when are they unveiling the new GTRs :nerd:

That ending was nuts.....glad i had no idea of what Argentina had in store until i saw it for myself. Scary scenes, but fascinating television m i love this show so much.

I was re-watching the special today and barely caught on to what Jeremy said about Lotus. Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious.

I haven't watched it yet... but what exactly is it?  It's not a regular TG episode, right?
