Still sad to see my (and my son's) favorite TV show come to an end this way.

Looking forward to the guys getting together on another show, naming it 'Not TopGear' and doing what they do best.
So calling your producer an Irish c*** while punching him the face is acceptable? (All because you can't have a warm dinner, due to being 2 hours late, 'cause you were off drinking?)

Singing songs about little n****** isn't racist?

Refusing to give basic respect to others, because you're a popular television host is okay?
I never said it was acceptable, it is possible to be disappointed that Top Gear will never be the same while recognizing that the BBC had zero choice but to fire him.

Yo really though, the producers mess with them that much? Like they always do that on the show where they reference producers giving them this crappy hotel or food etc. maybe the producers thought it would be funny instead he got legit mad.

Really though if I'm out shooting for 10 hrs and driving and had no food at the end of the day I would be just as agitated.

Plus this is show biz, how many have seen that intern that gets smacked for not bringing the right sandwich seems common.

Agitated is fine - but try punching someone at your job and see what happens. At best you'd get a serious warning but if you have prior you'd be out the door.

It's a shame because I enjoyed the show too - but he's done a few too many stupid things over the years and the BBC is a very visible, and at the moment slightly touchy, organisation.

My response was to the article, which portrayed his firing as a result of a super pc BBC. As if he were being punished solely on his beliefs and refusal to back down to civility. Balderdash.

He wasn't punished solely for this incident, I think that's fairly obvious with all the talk of his past indiscretions being rehashed.

Of course it's an accumulation. But the article wants to pretend that the final straw wasn't him punching a producer in the mouth. As if that isn't beyond the pale. Poor Jeremy Clarkson, the world has decided to grow up a bit and you can't play lord of the British Empire anymore. Boo hoo.

Also, when your employer has been found to be the host of a decades long pedo ring, everyone has to behave better.

Even if he didnt do all those other things this is more than enough to warrant someone being fired.

Had Kanye did this you would all be saying how he is the worst human being in the world.

as my friend pointed out, he's too politically incorrect for the BBC. which i think is accurate. and to be fair some of the past controversy im sure has been blown out proportion. the license place issue in argentina was a result of butt hurt war vets who saw meaning in something that wasn't there. proof was provided that the car was purchased like that.

the top gear crew needs to be moved to HBO or netflix.

Welp I guess all good things must come to an end. :frown:

Clarkson has pushed the limit more than once and it caught up to him.

R.I.P. Top Gear :frown:

No doubt BBC would fire Clarkson; they had no other choice. Most usual contributors (and I'm sure some non) were hoping for a surprise season finale with the three hypercars. I guess its a safe bet we won't see that anymore.

The racist thing is really blown out of proportion. He got caught maybe saying the N word one single time, while singing a song where the N word was really a part of it back in the day.

Hes no Donald Sterling

shoulda done p1/laferrari/918 at the beginning of the season

He also called Asians a slope in the Burma special. Flew over our heads because that's such an obscure racist term that most people don't even know what it means.

I don think he's a racist tho. But punching someone is enough to get fired without taking into consideration anything else he might very done. Doubt this is the first time he crossed the line behind the scene.

I think Clarkson is much more racially insensitive than actually being racist...
