The guy who was the white Stig (Ben Collins) decided to write an autobiography, catching everyone at the BBC by surprise. So naturally they were all disappointed and felt betrayed.
Here's Jeremy's reaction...

Ben Collins has now moved to Fifth Gear (the other UK car show), where he works with, incidentally, Tiff Needell and Jason Plato (BTCC champ).

And for those who don't know, Tiff was on the original Top Gear back in the 90's.

Guy I was with bought a can of that at a gas station a few months ago - first time I'd ever seen it. Surprised it took so long for someone to use it on TV - although the BBC did just revise their rules on product placement last week so it's maybe that. You're now allowed to use a product name (e.g. ipod) when talking about it - rather than saying 'mp3 player'.

i am truly curious as to what they do about the stig situation. i mean, they have to have someone do it right, someone qualified for it to.

I don't think finding a Stig replacement is the problem.  Ben Collins is a good racing driver, but he isn't someone spectacular.  Having said that, they don't need someone spectacular to do the job.  They just need someone who's fast and consistent, which a lot of decent racing drivers can be.  
The issue here is how the whole 'mystic' of the Stig was revealed and how it all panned out.  Why everyone loved the Stig was because of how mysterious he was.  In a way, people didn't want to know... it was part of the fun.  Now they have to find someway to make him interesting again.

Agreed. I'm just wondering whether they just get a new driver to be the Stig in a gray suite, or if they just use a "real person". Yes I've watched enough Top Gear to consider the Stig not a real human...
