Quite disappointed they neither took the 4C nor the P1 around the track for a Power Lap. Wonder if McLaren Automotive had anything to do with it. Heck, they didn't even post a lap time around the Ring. They should get all three hybrid hypercars on the show in this series...

I wonder how "not ready" the Ferrari La Ferrari (redundant, yes) is as well? :nerd:

Yeah, Clarkson intentionally flipped the roles of the engine/motor for comedic effect.

In reality, it's like most hybrids... 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 (same as the 12C, I believe), but tuned to 727 hp... PLUS the electric motor that produces 176 hp... for a total of 903 hp.  As Clarkson mentioned, the electric motor fills in the gaps of the engine... like during the shifts and when the turbos are spooling (before the boost kicks in).  The car also has an IPAS boost system from the electric motor.

Just like this year's F1 cars. :smokin

I think they already did the hot-lap with the P1, but Clarkson said that they wanted to compare it with the 918, so I guess they're gonna wait till Hammond reviews it.

Odd that they didn't show a lap with the 4C though!

Man, have fun explaining the MGU-H & the MGU-K this season!

This. In a few weeks Hammond is reviewing porsches hybrid car. Then they will show both laps.

Yeah, they probably already have.

OT: Ted's Notebook interviewed a Renault Motorsport guy which explained the MGU-H and MGU-K pretty well. Works similar to the P1's system. Posted in the F1 thread Allan McNish's insights on what drivers should expect driving a car with such a system -he does have quite a bit of experience with that for almost a decade.

Yeah, I saw that Ted's Notebook, which was pretty informative.  Will check out the McNish vid later...

That car is just absolutely stunning. I am both American and British (duel citizen) but Americans hate it when I try to identify with them. So I had issues with my identity. When I grew older, especially as the EU got established, I just started to call myself British. No need identifying with people who don't want you to.

McLaren, Aston Martin, Pagani, Jaguar, and just British car culture in general have done a great job making proud to be british. If I could reverse time I would not even try to lose my accent. Now my voice is a mess of residual accents from all the countries I have lived in.

something about the p1 that i really love just from the looks...

that thing looks evillll it has that really sleek aggressive look
the aventador has that sleek aggressive look but its more aggressive than sleek the p1 is the opposite imo both look dam good tho

the p1 in purple tho just looks so dam sinister :x

Would any of you actually go to the TG studio to be part of the audience?

I keep thinking to myself, it must be irritating going there, standing before the show, standing during the show while watching all of the "films" then watching the interview in studio, still standing, watching another "film" or two, then clapping and going home

Of course, they'd probably make me stand in the back, so I'll end up missing everything.

i would but i would probably have to rewatch the episode at home. best seats are the seats at home.

being able to rewind on funny jokes >

plus, i always skip the interview unless it is someone of my interest
