Alright, hopefully enough time has passed now where I can start a football discussion without being attacked.  I have a question for you guys.

If you are Pete Carroll, with a 1 point lead and about 1:40 or whatever left on the clock (after Kaepernick runs for the first and goal), do you let the Niners score a touchdown purposely?

I know its hard to give up the lead on purpose, but would you do it?  Basically, you are looking at being down 5 or 7 points with about 1:20 left in the game, or being down 2 points with like 25 seconds left.

Just curious to know what your thoughts on this are.  What do you think would have given your team a better shot?

When Gore got off that run, my first initial thought was to let him score there, but Gore went down on his own and that plan for me, went out the window. I wanted the defense to step it up, and although they only gave up a FG, they also gave up a first down. There just wasn't enough time left to do a whole lot. An extra 6 seconds would've been nice.

They asked Pete that question too, and he said he thought about it, and then dismissed it. He said he would look into whether or not letting your opponent score has actually worked out for other teams...I dont remember a case where it has though.

I think our defense is good enough that you give them 4 or however many chances to force a turnover and try to block the kick.  It's not like that hasn't happened before.

I do understand the question in principle and there are many situations where it is the only option, but it's a tough choice to make.  What if you let Gore run free through your D and then he decides to dance on the 1 yard line and then fall down there without scoring?

It makes the most sense to make that decision if there is a big imbalance between your offense and defense (in favor of the offense).

In most cases with even a little but more time I say just try to hold them, get a block, possible fumble, whatever but

I think you gotta let them score being in the position to have only 25 seconds on the clock.

non-football related video about Russ tha Gawd. What a great guy.

I hope niner fans are not serious when they post stuff like this on the internet

You know Im tired of hearing that The Niners got lucky against The Hawks last week and that we are going to have to meet again in the playoffs in Seattle. Here is a little funny fact. If The Panthers and Hawks both lose out and The Saints lose the next 2 of 3 and The Niners win out, The Niners would clinch the divison (yet again) have a 1st round bye and have home field through out the playoffs. So yea keep dreaming Seattle just like you were dreaming about beating us at home.

Niner Empire stand up!

Saw a HustleLikeRussell shirt...will cop tomorrow :pimp: good to get some Hawks stuff here without having my cousins up there mail it to me

I really hate that 2nd down play call there. Get Russell on the move! Could've easily came away with a score that drive.
