Report: Antoine Winfield won’t make Seahawks’ 53-man roster

Antoine Winfield’s stay in Seattle will apparently be a short one.

Winfield, the cornerback who signed a free-agent contract with the Seahawks in April, won’t make the Seahawks’ 53-man roster, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS.

According to the report, there’s a chance the Seahawks could trade Winfield to one of the other teams that were interested in signing him this offseason (including Washington and Minnesota), but if a trade can’t get done, Winfield will be released.

Winfield is a three-time Pro Bowler who was a starter for the Vikings last season, but he’s also 36 years old, which is over the hill by the standards of NFL cornerbacks, and he was due to make $3 million this season. The Seahawks have apparently decided to go younger and cheaper for their secondary depth.

Im not sure I like this move, not this season....I know there are guys that can replace him (Ware, Coleman) he definitely felt like one of the leaders in the locker room. Maybe Im overvaluing that aspect of it but that sucks.

I figured Winfield was gone, Thurmond pretty much locked up the spot by finally being healthy *knocks on wood*

The pro shop on pike has those Sherman beanies for $20

Still there, btw. Copped one this afternoon for a friend. They had two left on the rack. I didn't ask about their stock though. I imagine they don't keep more than a few out, because the rack doesn't hold much. The thing is, people in Seattle only shop for what the weather is like on that day, so cop it now and have it for later. Because once the weather turns, you'll be SOL when people start buying cold weather gear.

when i was there which is when i posted that, they had the beanies in some buckets and on a rack. lady said they only got a few hundred and thats it. so i copped two. i doubt they have any in stock. hopefully the people who actually got them to wear got them before the resellers.

In that case, they have very few left (prob the ones I saw). I did a couple laps around the store to make sure they didn't have them in multiple places. And they definitely didn't have them in any buckets/bins.

I don't play the reseller game, either. I got one for a friend who is a diehard Seahawks fan, and I know she'll appreciate it.
