Just like this season, it's going to come down to who plays well within the division. Seattle/SF went 4-2, St. Louis 3-3, and Arizona 1-5 within the division. It will be a tougher year for Seattle, but I don't think St. Louis will be that much better personel wise. I think the division winner will be 8-8 going in to the playoffs and even 7-9 again!

Effective in man-to-man coverage and has opposing quarterbacks looking away from him. Reads the receivers. eyes, gets his head back around, and makes plays on the ball. Quickly plants, then breaks on the throw. Gets vertical and adjusts to knock away the pass. Effectively uses his large frame to box out opponents. Explosive run defender who flashes on the scene and looks to deliver the knockout throw. Defeats blocks on his way to the ballcarrier.

NEGATIVES: More of a long strider with built-up speed rather than a quick, sudden defender. Gets turned, not the most instinctive player, and at times does a lot of chasing. Marginally effective backed off the line of scrimmage. Often flagged for pass interference. Times poorly at the combine.

ANALYSIS: A defensive back with outstanding size and strength, Browner is perfectly suited to play press coverage at the next level and also has possibilities at safety. Possesses a lot of upside potential and has the skills to be a shut-down cornerback in the NFL, but far from the finished product -- needs time to develop his overall game and will only be effective in certain systems.

They say dreams really do come true and for former FSU tight end Caz Piurowski, Tuesday, his dream of playing in the NFL came true. Piurowski has confirmed to Warchant.com that he signed a three-year contract to play for the Seattle Seahawks, but not as a tight end.

"I had a workout with them a month ago and they were gonna sign me that day and put me on the practice squad but I pulled my hamstring. I am very excited about the opportunity to finally get my chance."
The 6-foot-7 athlete saw an abrupt finish to his Seminole career when he tore his ACL and MCL injury during the 2009 Georgia Tech game. Prior to the injury, he had 13 catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns and was quickly becoming a force in Jimbo Fisher's offense. His 53-yard reception against Jacksonville State was the longest by an FSU tight end in 16 seasons. He was also known as dominant blocker and played some at offensive tackle in 2007.

The plan now is to get back in touch with the coaches after the Senior Bowl and go from there.

"I will hopefully go out there in March or whenever there is a new collective bargaining agreement to start their offseason training," he said.

Over the past two years Piurowski, son of former FSU All-American linebacker Paul Piurowski, had a few opportunities in the NFL, but none of them panned out. He worked out for the New York Giants and went to a mini-camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that was as far as it went. Which is why Tuesday's news is reason to celebrate.

"(I) had a possibility with the Giants two months ago and it fell through," explained Piurowski. "When the contract came today was the first time it really set in.

"I have been working out for some teams but Seattle was the first to offer me a contract. I have known for a few weeks they were gonna sign (me)."

After a season widely considered disastrous in terms of his overall draft stock, I have Locker bouncing back some during the lead-up to the draft. He was impressive enough at the combine and proved that he's every bit the athlete that Newton is (they ran identical times in the 40). He has a big-time arm and just needs to show that his accuracy is something that will develop when he has time to throw. This isn't an endorsement of Locker as a guy who should step in and start for the Seahawks if Matt Hasselbeck isn't back in 2011, but even if Seattle makes a move for a short-term answer at quarterback, Locker could be hard to pass up if Pete Carroll thinks he's a solution for the long run.

What I said in the draft thread:

I highly doubt Seattle goes for Locker in the first round. That's lazy of Kiper.

Seattle needs players who can contribute immediately and at various positions and Pete would be crazy to take Locker in that spot. 2nd round is more likely.
