Figured since there are a good amount of people on here who have rigs we should have an official thread.
Post your setup, talk about hardware, ask questions, or what have ya.

I just finished up my first build and it went pretty good. I ran into one problem where the onboard LAN wasn't being recognized but I had an extra PCI card so just used that.
Here's my set up, my cable management is horrible and I don't have the energy to patience to really deal with it right now. Non modular PSU is a huge pain

I need to figure out what games to grab now. All I have are both Starcrafts, Diablo II, and I bought Crysis Max edition yesterday, gotta get that DC Universe soon.
Shouts to homie scshift for helping me helping me out.

looking to build my own or have someone build one for me so i can get rid of my old vaio (._. )

I could be wrong, but I don't think the motherboard depends on your OS. Most are capable of Windows and Linux.
Putting it together was the easiest parts, as long as everything works as it should. Just trying to decide on what you want and what goes together is what got me.
When putting everything together yesterday, I realized that I didn't have a single IDE drive, if it wasn't for my motherboard coming with 4 SATA cables I would of had to go out and buy more.

If I didn't get such a solid deal on my VAIO F-Series I would have looked into building my own PC.

Big questions is; how much did the entire rig cost (sans the keyboad, monitor, speakers & mouse)?

Yeah, I really do need to. It's such a pain though

Everything was about 1300, didn't need to buy the OS.

and a tutorial for putting it together? Yeah I did. This guy on youtube had a pretty good one.
picking everything was basically just asking dude on here, or in the forums on gametrailers.com or tomshardware.com

You usually dont have to worry about Motherboards when it comes to OS selection unless you are trying to do something like Hackintosh.

Anyway here is my specs from a build in October:

Case: Thermaltake v3
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 3.2 ghz quad core
Mobo: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO
Ram: Patriot Sector 5 4GB PC10666 DDR 3 RAM
Sound Card: Asus Xonar DX
Optical Drive: Some Brand Name DVD+-RW
Boot Drive: 40 GB OCZ Agility 2 SSD
Slave Drive: Western Digital 1 TB Caviar Black
Speakers: Logitech Z-2300

Cost me: ~$900 for everything listed
