Official PC thread.

Bout to build my first gaming pc after being a console gamer my whole life. Would like some input on a good motherboard.

Right now I've decided I want to build around an i5-6600k and the nvidia 1060.

The motherboard I had on my list was the Asus Maximus viii Hero. Is there something else that I can use that's similar but cheaper?

Tryna see if I can save on price on some of the parts.

Any help would be appreciated!

check out Reddit buildapc and buildapc sales.

what form factor you building?

I played the **** out of it back when it released. Loved it, but once I got married I just kind stopped playing. When the next update come out I should hop back on it. Co-op mode should be a great addition.

pc headache #5
  1. 7/19 humble bundle purchased.
  2. Activate battleborn, borderlands presequel, and mafia 2. Only battleborn works. The rest bring up error code 53.
  3. Follow steam support article on error code 53. Nothing works.
  4. Google error code 53>Reddit error code 53>contact steam support(uninstall games, set launch options, ethernet, wifi, reset router, verify game cache, delete clietregistry.blob, uninstall avg, offline mode, and turn off firewall."
  5. 7/26 google more. Install games onto ntfs ssd instead of exfat hdd.
  6. Games work now.

I got them all on sale or from cdkeys.com. Mad Max/Shadow of Mordor dlc included was less than $10 for instance.

Plus I didn't go all digital, so I just resold games.

I didn't play some of them when I had them on console.

TW3: 6hr on ps4

FO4: 4hr on xb1

JC3: 3hr on ps4

I was pissed when all my ps4 save data got deleted again.

I've played shadow of mordor on xb1, ps4 TWICE, and now on pc. Mad Max 70hr on ps4.  Well over 100hr on each game just because that.

Well just ordered some parts for my new build. Can't wait til they all arrive. :smokin

CPU: i5-6600 (Locked, going to use stock cooler for now)
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-H170N-WIFI Mini ITX
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2133
CASE/PSU: Hadron Air

Planning on getting a RX480 to top it all off.

I currently have an SSD on my desktop now. Going to move it over. Anyone know the best way of doing this with new hardware? Any guides on transferring Windows 10 to the new hardware? It was just a free upgrade. Hopefully it is possible, or else thats another expense. I currently have a GTX570, a pretty old GPU. I will put it in until I can order the 480.

Any tips or suggestions are welcomed. I am not a heavy gamer, so if there is a cheaper GPU you guys suggests I am open to it. Would prefer AMD since my monitor has Freesync. Its 2560x1080, so anything that can push to 1080 at full would be good.

TW3 was $25 on steam last month. The season pass was also $25.

So base game and all DLC for $50.

By the time I get a PC, it'll probably be ~$10

Microsoft Dreamspark program.

All my applicable devices are running legit Windows 10 Education

Was running a pirated 7 on my machines for the longest.
