Official PC thread.

probably gonna go for 1080p. Would that be foolish?

Not at all. 1080p to my knowledge is the standard, but 1440p is becoming as afforable as 1080p.

Totally depends on what you want/budget.

I didn't have to compromise too much to attain 1440p. If you find yourself in that same scenario, go 1440p.

^Gotta determine what you want your build to do and at what resolution you want to game. If gaming is below the other stuff you need, then invest in a good processor. I went pretty balanced for the most part and so far it's been great. I listed my parts earlier in this thread. I did that all for under 1200 I believe.

Compromises: no wifi/bluetooth, no freesync(elminates screen tearing), cpu cooler is optional, but supposedly stock cpu coolers are sort of loud.

If you wait a bit, you can get better parts for the same amount of $$$ by checking this subreddit.

Edit: forgot to include a mouse/keyboard.

Took out the cpu cooler.

Thanks iYen. Is that monitor 4k?

I will probably pass on the monitor for a while. I already have one. It is 1080p but :pimp:.

Should be good for a while.

I thought we talked about it in party chat. I'm just gathering information. I'm gonna attempt to build a rig early next year. I'll have some time off then. I've been wanting to do it for awhile. I already got a list of games I want to test out on it

Yeah I remember you talking about playing single player games.

Yeah @Stay Lurkin  I wouldn't worry about a 4k monitor and you can definitely get a PC build for under 1k

Are you going to get a steam link to couch play?

1440P is very demanding on hardware.

I'm sticking with 1080 until we get some hardware that will actually pimp smack 1440p/4K resolutions over 60hz

4k monitors are like $400.

4k gaming is extremely demanding, don't think you'll get the most out of it with $1200.

Go for a excellent 1080p build or a good 1440p build.

I just uninstalled Adobe Flash Player from my PC and things just load up much faster in Firefox/Chrome.

Will report back if any issues, but Youtube, etc. all work fine.

Is there a fix for skyrim pc controls? The button mapping on pc is not intuitive. If I map Y(jump) to A(action), I have to press Y as if it's the A button in menus, but in-game A is jump. Then I re-mapped sprint and crouch, just made matters worse.

I legit deleted skyrim because of this and will wait for the remaster.

Hopefully skyrim remaster plays like fallout 4.

inb4 play with mouse/keyboard.

Just connected my RX480 via displayport to get freesync, and realized it was idling like 4-5 degrees cooler than when it was on HDMI. Just an observation, but for anyone getting weird idle temps on the RX480, try the DP.
