NT, What Beer Do You Drink?

I think retail on Ballast Point beers are generally a little higher than most breweries

Not sure on offerings other than Sculpin (regular and variants), but I think $16 for a six pack is a pretty common price

My wife got a couple of six packs for about $14 in New Jersey and that's the cheapest I've ever heard it costing

yeah that is def what I gather

I copped Victory at Sea today, now that is worth every penny

This is solid for a sour.

I really like it. I let it warm up a little and it tasted great.

Drinking storm king stout atm. Its really good. I like the balance of it.

Yall pissing me off with this Xocoveza stuff....

I don't know where to find it here in South Florida

I went on Stone's site, they have a beer search on there. The only place that I saw in Broward, Dade or WPB that has xoco was a bar and restaurant franchise called Yard House. There are four locations in down here. I called the one in Hallandale (Gulfstream) and asked if they filled growlers. They won't as they don't have the appropriate license to do so. Stone's site shows they delivered xoco there 5 days ago.

Kinda weird to me, If you look up around Orlando, like Chopper mentioned Brass Tap has it as well as other places like ABC stores.

If you all missed out on that first run of Xocoveza, it'll be back around towards the end of December/early January. That's when I plan to stock up on it.
It was sitting at some local places and now it's gone. I think people that missed out on Bourbon County saw it sitting there and snatched it up.

Yea I saw Yard House has it on draft....

Just getting back to reading this thread from a week back til now. It's really picked up.

Comparison Ford, you put my little stash to shame
1600

Looking to age each one of the duplicates. But the rest will be gone by 2016
Not pictured, and more into the daily drinker/rotation, I have the following:

Other than that, I think my current daily rotation/situation is something like this:
-2 cases Xocoveza (minus a sixer. basically one a day since last friday)
- 3 four packs Founders Breakfast Stout
-Sixer Founders '15 Backwoods B
-Sixer AVBC Blood Orange Gose
-Sixer Lagunitas Sucks
-Sixer Oskar Blues Ten Fidy
-Sixer Spaten OFest (still around)
-4 pack La Cumbre Elevated IPA
-4 pack Oskar Blues Death by Coconut
- Misc. bottles La Cumbre Malpais Stout
- Misc. bottles Santa Fe Imperial Java Stout
- Misc. bottles Deschutes Obsidian
- Misc. bottles Marble Oatmeal Stout
- Misc. bottles SN oktoberfest
- Misc. bottles Pilsner Urquell
- Misc. bottles SN Narwhal 2015
- Bottle Ayinger Oktoberfest
-Bottle '14 Stone Xocoveza

And in the dont judge me category:
- Stella 12 pack
-Dos Equis 12 pack
-Sixer Alaskan Winter
-Sixer Leinenkugels Cranberry Ginger beer
-Sixer Redhook Winter

I tend to try and drink most of what I have at the end of every month. Just finished a 22 month old BarleyWine from a local brewery, along with a 2013 Kriek from a local brewery.

Another local brewery Bosque, released an Imperial Coffee Brown Ale. Pricey for what they charge for their bombers. $10. But realizing they are making/releasing just 700 at a time makes it somewhat understandable.

This weekend I ended up picking up more FBS, another four pack of Death of Coconut, a four pack of elevated, and a sixer of Born Yesterday.

I did try Enjoy by 12/25/15. Sadly, I think I am done with the enjoy by series. at 9.4%, the beers have been too sweet for me lately. I can down a big stout any time. But these higher level IPAs just arent my thing anymore.

-------------
Meyer23, I've had a couple chances at trying Founders Project Pam. I am just not sold on the BLACK IPA what so ever. Chocolate and piney hops make my stomach hurt just thinking about the blended flavors.

A guy on my untappd feed mixed some ten fidy with xoco. I think I may a 2 parts xoco blend with 1 part death of coconut. These blend of flavors are CRAZZZY.

--------------
Aplus18, sucks that BY is getting to you all so late on TX. I think that's why a lot of breweries skip distro to your state. That and I think there are some fees that are quite OUT there, so there lower volume players will make zero money in your state.
-------------------

Mangudai954, IMHO Storm King has that dark fruit, almost licorice type flavor that many strive for out of a stout. It's different than the rest. You should give ten fidy a try. That may blow your mind.

Glad to see Two hearted win you over. I love it too. There are definitely degrees or levels of IPAs, and that one has just 55 IBUS. Many are well above
-------------

Comparison Ford, you mention wai-iti and southern cross hops for Grimm. The only local brewery I know that uses those is La Cumbre. I know there are hop contracts that these guys sign a year a head of time, and pick out, and buy their allotment for the years ahead. The reason a lot of these smaller breweries can't do big IPAs is because of the cost of non contracted hop varieties, and or its availability. Let's hope Grimm and OH have some solid hop contracts in place for their core IPAs, or they may just be switching it up more than every once in awhile.

---------
Those mentioning Ballast Points pricing. It's that way here too. I may see it at $12 for a sixer, but thats at TW, and with coupons being used. So freshness is always an issue. It's usually $15.50 for sculpin varieties. I actually haven't bought any since their company got sold for a billion bucks. I think what sold those investors so much was peoples willingness to spend $15-$16, on a sixer that is some $5-6 more than other higher quality beers. It had a luxury cost, and the taste somewhat followed. Their valuation was 3 times higher than it should've been because of Sculpin and GF sculpin pricing/sales alone.

Wish me luck on that death of coconut x xoco blend later this evening.

I'll check FIdy out.

Had the celebrator yesterday. I'd heard a lot about it; it didn't disappoint.

Bought these on a whim at TJs today.

NICE. Good looks. I'll probably go there sometime this week to try it out.

Yo. Stopped over there tonight with wifey and they are out. They do have Prairie Bomb Christmas though and that stuff is delicious, could argue just as tasty.

The Joseph brau is hoppier than I expected. Probably the doppel bock with the most pronounced hop I've had thus far. It was cool.

Be Careful with TJ's branded beers. Many are quite generic, and taste just as bad. It's cool you will try almost anything and everything. It's great to be that open when trying new things. I always tend to look at Beeradvocate rankings/ratings to get an idea on a product. I've been let down too many times.

I got this for a family friend
Weihenstephaner Gift Set
608.jpg

5 of their 500ml beers plus a spiral etched hefe glass. Here it's about $20. Considering solo bottles go for $4.50, this is basically a free glass when you buy the beers.

Great assortment of non hoppy beers.

Celebrator, as you mentioned above, may be the best of its style. There is a Weihenstephaner Korbinian that is rated quite highly that may be among those in the gift set if you can find it.

I may have mentioned Duvel, and other Belgium beers, but Tripels, delerium tremens, a Belgian strong ale, is highly recommended too.

I wrote this over on BA for a family gathering type post. These are my "get them into "craft" type beers". Nothing overly flavored or crazy. Higher end pilsners to your Belgium beers, and into some German Classics/Euro classics.
For my family gatherings and for those that sort of may be interested, I will have the following beers handy:
- SN Kellerweis (or a substiute quality "fruit" type wheat beer that isn't shocktop or blue moon
-Weihenstephaner Original Munich Helles Lager. I call it the high class Budweiser. Super clean crisp smooth flavors. Hops not an issue
-Pilsner Urquell, as mentioned above, the play between sweet and dry is done so subtly but its appreciated.
-Weihenstephaner Hefe. That just may be that SN kellerweis replacement. Ranked as one of the top Hefes for very good reason
- Duvel- It's up there in ABV for most newcomers, but that sweetness to dryness factor should blow some minds. Champagne like, as they say.
-Delerium Tremens is in that same category as Duvel. I would recommend both.
-Weihenstephaner Pils or Kristall bier or Vitus (a lot of places have a 5 Weihenstephaner 500ml gift set, with a hefe glass for $20-25.. It's quite the bargain imho).
- Tripel Karmeliet- 8.4% Tripel. Sweet, crisp. It may surprise folks.

Ah damn. I'll probably try that out then. Might try Yard House on I Drive and see if they still have it.
