NT, What Beer Do You Drink?

Weihstephaner
I'm on a hefeweizen trip....

Any specific ones worth checking out?
I'd definitely check out Weihenstephaner Hefe Weiss, it's probably one of the best beers to introduce to people at a party that aren't familiar with well crafted breweries. Next time your at the store stop by the german import section to pick up other great hefeweizen such as Julius Echter Hefe-Weissbier, Ayinger Brau Weiss, Paulaner Hefe-Weissbier or Schneider Weissse.

If you want to keep it American then try out Troegs Dreamweaver wheat, New Glarus Dancing man wheat, Sierra Nevada Hefeweizen or Victory Mad King Weiss.

My favorite is Sierra Nevada Hefeweizen because its year round, fairly easy to get and at $10 bucks I can't complain because its good quality brew.

Thanks guys will check them all out.

This is my go to when I just want to drink a beer after a long day...

Nightshift Santilli was really good. They remind me of Stone's Enjoy By IPA where they basically will push out a batch at a time that tastes different every time.

*loved* Santilli. Brew buddy in Boston has been rocking with them since the beginning. So glad she put me on.

I don't know if you tried it yet but next time also get some Young's Double Chocolate stout, then do a 50/50 mix with the Banana beer and you'll end up with a tasty banana chocolate beer

. I kid you not it will blow your palates off. If the Youngs doesn't cut it for you then instead get Southern Tier Choklat and do the same mix and no denying that it will make taste beer than the original base.

Can anybody recommend me a good literature book and a good fiction book...I need to escape to another world!

Also I recommend "no longer human". It gives you a glimpse of the life of a Japanese nihilist. It's also a short read like 150 pages.

Really? That sounds real good. Is mixing as simple as it seems? Just half of each into a glass?

Regardless I might have to try that soon.

^i don't drink coffee withers and I love coffe stouts, had one coffee IPA which I thought was great as well

A place down the street from my work has $2 10 oz drafts for happy hour...had them mix Youngs banana bread beers and double chocolate stout

Yeah I'm about to google and see how you do it. I'm assuming in my head that it's simple but I'm gonna guess its more complicated than I think [emoji]128514[/emoji]

I've seen bars like use a spoon when mixing brews. Not to stir but I guess the help with the mixing process or the foam? Idk but worst case scenario I'll sip a little of both one after the next lol

I hate hot coffee. Maybe have had one cup in my whole life.. But coffee beers. They do it for me... Which has me thinking, I may need to rethink my stance on the hot non alcoholic, basically non sweet Coffee that billions drink.

Day 5 of the new year.. No new purchases. No draft pint purchases. I guess my first test will be when the weekend comes. But it feels nice to clean house. SItting on about 20 FBS and 30 xocoveza bottles though. So My goal is to be clean from beer store purchases/pint purchases for this entire month of January into Feb.

Any of yall got any goals or resolutions?

EarldaGoat, dont know why that coffee stout is only in their winter pack. It's very very solid.

Someone mentioned the southern tier choklat.. Damn what an interesting beer. The smell is entirely sweet chocolate syruyp nectar. Divine.. Sadly there is quite a bit of bitterness that seemed to come through and dominate. Still gave it a 4/5. Some beers just NEED to be sweet. I dont care about balance all the time. Here it balanced toward bitter.

Beer blending has become a daily thing for me. Take a too sweet stout, and mix it with one that is too thin and flavorless, and you got a nice combo beer.

I know FIrestone Walker has their anniversary beers as blends of many of their beers. 20% this, 10% that. 2% this etc... There is quite the negative stigma on beer blending.. ALthough that probably comes from the macro side of things. I have cousins who love angry orchard mixed with blue moon. So true craft offerings may be seen as a waste?

As far as blending beers, I started with a pint glass, and 6 oz. of one, then 6 oz. of the other right on top.. Flavors seemed to blend instantly.. I soon just alternated, a pour of this, a pour of the other, then alternate back until its full.. It's not that black and tan crap where it has to look pretty.. That is unless you want to blend a stout with a hefeweizen (thats more in spirit with a banana chocolate flavor explosion)

Just cracked open a Dogfish Had 120min IPA. Boozy but reeeaaally good. Split the bottle with my wife and she enjoyed it as well. Still have another in the fridge and another couple in the cabinet that I'm gonna age.

My spot got in more Prairie Bomb! yesterday and I didn't go on purpose.

Trying to cut back spending this year and after 5 days, I feel like I did good...but if it's still there tonight I may get a couple more

I'm a huge fan of 120 as it ages. Local bar had a 2012 on tap a de months ago. Super smooth and complex.
