NT, What Beer Do You Drink?

400

Cracked this one tonight.

Just drank a Xocoveza back-to-back with a Xocoveza Charred for the sake of comparison. Good lord...the difference is night and day.  Two completely different beers.  Barrel-aging did nothing good for it.

Charred is honestly one of the biggest letdowns I've had in a while.  Had such potential, but fell flat on its face.

Agreed 100%. Charred was such a letdown. Give me reg Xoco anyday.

Had the FBS last night. Wow. I gotta say it, its clearly better than xocoveza.
It's all subjective. Two different kinds of beers.
My personal opinion? Xocoveza is better by quite a bit.
FBS is a bitter (not in a bad way) coffee bomb.
Xoco is like a sweet Mexican hot chocolate.

I say screw it, and just mix them together. FBS is definitely fuller bodied. It's sweeter, has more bitterness, and like Jbug88 said, a coffee bomb. Xoco is lighter on all fronts.

I went through a couple of the beers I got on Saturday.

-NB Citradelic is quite unique. Subtle citrus flavors, both from the hops and added fruits. I can see this being a nice change of pace come warmer weather
-Mother Road Tower Station IPA. It's about a 4 or so out of 5. So much competition out there. I just dont see myself buying this knowing that its at least 2 months old most of the time.
-Avery Raja... about a month old can of 8% DIPA. Priced a bit up there at $13/4 pack of 12oz cans. better than bombers. It had citrus and mango elements initially. But it felt old. Not very lively. Malts became a bit too sweet and heavy for me. Par for the course type beer.

I still have a Founders Imperial Stout I will revisit, along with a Oskar Blues Hotbox Coffee Porter.. That one I have no idea of its rating, so I want to go in there totally blind.. I do know its the most expensive single I have bought in a long time.. $5

And in Full disclosure, I'm at $394 in potential buys, with about $130 actually "spent" (including two growlers and two brewery visits. $60 of that $130 was spent on others essentially ). Scary stuff

Ehh there's no reason to compare FBS to Xoco.

Xoco would be amazing if it had a little more body, and I like my beers like my beers like I like my women....thick.

I've still only had my 1 stop this year. I've passed on quiet a bit myself. Not sure of the savings but I'd guess a couple two/tree hunna

Just trying to drink what I have but I am over due for a trip for some "normal" beer.
Stopped by my local bottleshop today and saw that they put out 2014 bottles of BCBCS

(saved a case to sell later apparently). Snagged two bottles and another bottle of Enjoy By 2/14.
Dope! Every time I go into any store I always hope I find something like this. Not necessarily BCS but something rare or older.

As far as bottles go, I've only spent $12.99 on a 12 pack of SN Tropical IPA from their beer camp series. Pretty goddamn delicious especially for the price.
