Most of my trades are from BA. Like CF said, it could definitely add up. I've been pretty good as of late as far as not trading (last one was about 6 months ago). This hobby is quite expensive

I had a side trip down south to El Paso this weekend
Oak aged Yeti By Great Divide, I had for first time yesterday. QUALITY stuff (i've had the espresso version before). Quite a bit of a alcohol booze heat, factored in with some high level chocolate bitterness. It all rounded out to make for an easy drinker. Tons of roast on the flavor, with a prominent wood oak flavor.. Not really hyped anymore, but thought I'd give it a chance while out of town.
Endeavour IPA by St. Arnold was another one I tried for first time. Saw the BA score, sorta went by that as far as choices went. Not impressed. Sort of a old hop aroma. Taste was a bit of a sweet malt bomb. I guess Hoptimum would be a similar product. Realizing its 9%, it didnt feel boozy. But I guess can't get down with heavy DIPAs anymore. 6-8% is perfect for me now. It drank solid but wasn't memorable by any stretch. 10 out of 12 local IPAs are probably better.
Hoppy Monk, youll see on yelp, BA etc. as far as beer bars. Great selection. At least 70 beers on tap. Prices solid. By far the highlight was the food.
Hit the racetrack for a big race. BMC dominated. 90% at least (with imports picking up the rest). We think we've hit some strides and made a dent, or seen some saturation as far as craft goes. But seeing these big events like this be dominated by BL, is a harsh reality.
Canned choices I saw:
-Tecate, Tecate Light
-Bud, Bud Light
-Michelob Ultra
-Miller Lite
-Dos Equis lager
-Corona
-Heineken
Draft choices:
- Sam Adams Boston Lager
-Shock Top
-Blue Moon
-Stella
- Dos Equis Lager & Amber
Draft was some $2.50 more. Not having that.
I ended up being on a cheap booze buzz sort of day knowing id be outside all day and went with regular ol Bud.. First one went down okay. Second time, that carbonation and fake sweetness flavor kind of bloats your stomach.
I know the Kentucky Derby has a big beer sponsor. Tough to find any good beers, my family was saying.
2nd up was miller lite. Seemed easier to drink. Imho, dos equis lager bottled is the cheap way to go for a no frills buzz for me when I need to stay buzzed and hydrated. As far as choices yesterday, miller lite would have sufficed all the way better than bud or b lite. Luckily the yeti set a nice standard for the day. It wasn't all sadness

Having Dogfishhead Burton Baton right now. Really good Imperial IPA. Smooth, doesn't taste boozy at all for a 10%. Hard not to have more than 1. Have some Green Flash Soul Style in the fridge so I'll have one of those next just to not get sloppy.

Not sure how available Anderson valley blood orange gose is for yall. It's been a good 4 month break for my area. At $10/sixer on a 4.2% beer, price is sorta iffy. But after having a few over a cpl hours time. Drinkability is amazing. Sn otra veza has this weird cactus flavor.IMHO. avbc reigns supreme even if you pay a touch more.

I had some Briney Melon over the weekend. Disappointed me to be honest. I just didn't get a whole bunch of melon flavor out of it.
I liked The Kimmie, The Yink and The Holy Gose and the Blood Orange much better.

Pirate Bomb was fantastic last year. Probably my favorite of the Bomb variants. My local bottleshops should be getting some soon. Hopefully I can snag a bottle.
Other Half, Grimm and Singecut to name a few. Most may be brewery release only.

Other Half does can releases every other Saturday. The next release is this weekend--All Citra Everything, Green Diamonds, Forever Ever, and also bottles of rum barrrel-aged In Absentia Luci. Guaranteed hot mess. Don't bother going unless you plan on getting there early and are comfortable with the possibility of waiting on line for a few hours.
Grimm is arguably doing some of the best stuff in New York, but they're still a gypsy brewery. They seem to can most of there stuff at Beltway in Virgina and distribute to NYC and Long Island exclusively. They're in the process of acquiring their own space in Brooklyn, but it's gonna be a while...and when they finally do get a space it's gonna be a nightmare to even get the opportunity to check it out. Until then all you can do is try to track down a few cans and maybe a bomber or two of one of their sour/stouts every month if you exercise the proper amount of hypervigilance. Most places will only sell you 1 or 2 cans of their IPAs when they get a shipment. It's gotten so bad that someone on the NYC craft beer subreddit was boasting about how he stuck a GPS tracker on one of the trucks dropping off shipments of Lambo Door to all of the bottle shops and distributors around NYC.
SingleCut is readily available around NYC, Long Island and a bunch of surrounding counties. Most bottle shops will have some bottles of their IPAs and they're usually pretty fresh. They're not on the level of some of the other NYC breweries, but a few of their beers are right up there with them and the rest of their offerings are still very respectable to say the least.
As far as some other great NY breweries, check out the following: Threes, Transmitter, Finback, Barrier (Long Island), Sand City (Long Island), Brewery At Bacchus (New Paltz), Peekskill Brewing.

Mo Shuggie, Full Stack, and Bon Bon are all very good. They just need to start canning and lower their prices for me to justify regular purchases.
