NT, What Beer Do You Drink?

700

Haven't updated what I've been drinking in a minute:

This was fairly good.  The adjuncts didn't come through at all, but still a respectable Russian Imperial Stout.

This one was really nice. Imperial cream ale with kolsch yeast hopped with the same hop bill as Barrier Money.  Awesome can, to boot.

Horribly underrated beer.  Probably my favorite sunny day/summer beer.  Pick this up if you haven't tried it yet.

Easily the most underwhelming of the bunch.  Not horrible, just meh.

Mofosaic single-hopped IPA. Another banger.  Super juicy with a slightly dank bite.  Been making weekly treks out to Sand City as of late.

^^ Lilikoi is incredible. Was an Avery taproom exclusive forever...glad they're able to make more in their beautiful new facility!

My taste buds are crazy. Just crazy. Ive probably mentioned it a half dozen times already on here.. I was finishing a enjoy by 5/30 six pack. The 4th of the 6th was by far the best. No heavy booze flavor that I am pretty used to with enjoy by. Dank to the max level.. Then I have another right after. Some booze creeps in. Not so amazing.

CFord, whats the price on that kepoli around your way? I want to try it but for $11/4pack, I just don't know. Maybe a single try for $3 is more up my alley. Especially when a local witbier just came out and that's $6.50/six pack and 1.4 more abvs..

^ Just picked up 4 cans of the Kepolo. It was $14.

Thank goodness it's a solid beer.

I should just suck it up and try it then.

Whats up with Heineken? I saw way too many people at the local beer store picking that up. I guess for some its a higher class bud light? Price is pretty affordable but I'm assuming, really not much better than some US craft options. I guess some are stuck in their MGD ultra phase, corona kick, or other light lager beer. I looked on my untappd. Never checked in heineken. I do get down with Pilsner urquell, and some other german lager offerings such as Spaten, or Paulaner. Heineken has alluded me until today. Quite the beauty buying that beer. Shouldve steered her American Crafts way :smh:

Local grocery store had SN's Beer Camp for $23. Figured I'd give it a shot considering other spots selling it for $30. So far, I've tried Moxee Moron and Pat Rye OT. Nothing mind blowing nor terribly bad. Hopes aren't too high for the rest :rolleyes

Anyone in the Chicagoland area/Waukegan? Zumbier, this is Maui Trickster. Gives Death by Cocnut a run for its money.

Heiny is skunk beer. The only reason I'm accustomed to drinking it is because I've been with my wife/GF at the time since 99 and that literally all her parents drank. So after I was able to drink legally, that's all they had. So for years it was sort of free beer. It's gross but to me it tastes like Miller (as in just normal beer I could pound). You're not missing **** by not buying it.

Got a free growler fill of the new Other Half single-hop Wai-Iti pale ale.  Meh.  Lots of green tea notes with a crackery malt taste.  Wouldn't spend money on this one:

Yeah neosole89, I would not buy beer camp again. $28 plus tax here. All very quite solid. Moxee moron reminds me of lagunitas sucks in a way. But if that's their best beer in the whole set, combine that with the price paid, I pretty much agree with the ba review score range of 3.7 to 4.0.

I can build a better six pack for a better value. Cool idea but not so cool price point.

^ Yeah, had the South of the Union and Family Values Imperial Brown Ale today. Both solid but nothing to write home about.

Home brew alert

MODERN TIMES FI clone is ready. We had some technical difficulties early on. Abv was not 5% as we had hoped. It's closer to 4.2%. But that didn't stop us from dry hopping it. We actually had 12 gallons yield, so we may have been able to boil that down to 5%. Yield should've be closer to a final 9.5 gallons

Not sure if we want to filter it a bit to clear it up.

At 7oz/10 gallons hopping rate, it's quite a bit down from many professional brewers who go as high as 41 ounces/10 gallons.

Freshness wins our here though. This may be the first session pale ale that I have ever liked. Huge citra/amarillo hop citrus burst on the flavor front. Not sure that it will get us drunk though. I want to say there's some booze in that there beer lol.

Our other beer, a wee heavy is looking to clock in at 7.5%. Sampled some finishing wort. It's tasty. We're gonna brew a milk stout and throw that on the Scotch ale yeast cake. 34 gallons of brew coming soon lol.

picked up the Sumatra because someone in this thread said it was good. I'm sitting here perplexed how singlecut bottles are noticeably smaller than eviltwin yet singlecut says a pint and 9 Oz and evil twin a pint and 6 oz. I don't think it's the glass because I can see a difference in width at the fill lines

Drinking a bunch of heavy hitters today.

This was very good, but as far as Grimm IPAs go this is arguably my least favorite:

An old standby.  Love this beer, but it's lost its initial shine it had when it was one of the few great NY options:

New one here.  25% of this beer is blueberry/blackberry puree, and it shows. It's a berry bomb.  Alcoholic fruit juice.  Probably my favorite of the bunch:

Happy Thursday, NT.
