NT, What Beer Do You Drink?

Anyone see this yet?  Lagunitas has apparently one-upped Stone when it comes to marketing for freshness.  This beer already has BeerAdvocate singing its praises.  Currently sitting at a 99/100.

Must be nice.  $15 sounds about right in NY. Wish my Costco carried something better than Yuengling.  

As for the Green Flash/Alpine purchase, I'm stoked. Not that I expect Alpine to be available on the east coast or anything, but increased production=increased chances of me getting a bottle of Nelson/Exponential Hoppiness/Hoppy Birthday/etc.

No idea. I'll probably drink one during the holidays and stash one for a few years along with last years. Maybe I'll put one up for trade.
 
I think I need a lock on my beer fridge.. Had a couple beers during football yesterday afternoon. Evening came around and I decided to bust out some bombers. Not that I was drunk but I dont feel I totally got to enjoy them.. What a waste... A few I had planned to save for the holidays. I have some stuff hidden away better but others are too accessible.. I'm not sure how some of you do it

Speedway for $9?!

Never seen that price anywhere around my way.
 
Been on a IPA kick these last few nights.. 3 elevated IPAs are so easy to drink, yet when you do the math, that amounts to quite a bit of beer. I may need to slow down lol.

This may go back a couple weeks. Someone on untappd asked about elevated IPA being drank from the can? Yes, and YES. Out of a 4 pack, on average I'll drink two straight up, and pour the others. I don't see any loss or gain via either method. Unlike HT, where it's very specific what they want. I don't see this one being too confined to any standard.

btw, anyone see that new Lagunitas Born Yesterday Pale Ale? It's definitely making waves.. It doesnt look to be coming my way.

^how fresh is that lagunitas sumpin extra ale up a few posts? I've seen some sitting my way but believe it's still the August stock they initially got.. I loved it at the time, but freshness may be key to that beers unbelievable balance

Yikes.. They seem to ship my way too.. I better steer clear of a future drunken purchase lol.. How I am able to pull out my wallet, or find it, and then type in the code, including the security #, I havent a clue. Thats the power of beer I guess.

What' shipping charges like? Do they offer ups ground? I'm not sure how this is totally legal though.
 
SN celebration ale seems a bit malty this year. Solid and well rounded flavor and mouthfeel. But somethings missing. I bought a single. Extra malty but doesn't seem too out of balance. Seems more on par with a Oskar Blues dales pale ale. A solid ipa to the mix. But I'll pass on picking up more.

Competition is stiff

^ I was reading a THREAD on Ba about a gingerbread stout. Is that the one from MD? BA score seems really good. I heard it doesn't age well. Nice little pickup. I'd be all over a gingerbread beer for the holidays. I'm not left with much locally.

I honestly just bought t because EVERYONE in the store kept grabbing them before they could stock them so I jumped on it. I think they are based in Richmond, VA

Socal heads, I'm headed to Cerritos next month for a wedding. Thinking about hitting up Firestone Walker on the way back. Any other breweries I should hitup that are close by?
 
Speaking of Gingerbread stouts...I almost picked up Golden Road's.

Anyone try it? It seems to be widely available.

If you'll be in Cerritos I wouldn't miss The Bruery. It's a 20 min drive and they do an archive sale in December. Noble is worth checking out especially if they have Naughty Sauce or Mans Milk on tap. They also have a single hop series with a new one being released every month. Bottle logic has decent beers and the tap room is one of the nicest I have ever been to.

I know you said LA to Rancho, but the South Bay is my home turf.

South Bay (El Segundo, Beach Cities, Torrance, etc.) = so dense, it's a bit overwhelming.

I have had beers from 6 of those 7 breweries (Abigaile being the one I haven't) and they are all good.
Smog is my favorite by far, followed by Monkish. King Harbor and Absolution are newly opened (within the last 2 months). King Harbor is quality stuff. Absolution is just ok so far.
El Segundo are hop forward beers, but they do have a good stout.
Strand is all around good and the oldest of the South Bay Breweries.


Los Angeles:
Angel City Brewery - 216 S Alameda St, Los Angeles
Eagle Rock Brewery - 3065 Roswell St, Los Angeles
Golden Road Brewing - 5430 W San Fernando Rd, Los Angeles
Ohana Brewing Company - 1756 E 23rd St, Los Angeles (although their tasting room is in Alhambra)

Progress Brewing - 1822 Chico Ave., South El Monte (formally Federal Brewing) - probably had this beer almost as much as the South Bay stuff. My homebrew partner lives 5 minutes from here. Really, really good beer.

I've had beers from all 5 places. Good stuff. Ohana just won a silver in the World Beer Cup for Belgian-and French-style Ale category for its Ohana Saison Noir beer

If you divert down to Orange County:
The Bruery - 715 Dunn Way, Placentia
Noble Ale Works - 1621 S Sinclair St, Anaheim
Bootlegger's Brewery - 130 S Highland Ave, Fullerton

Included in there now is The Dudes tasting room, which I visited for the first time on Sunday night. The Dudes have been canning for a few years now and finally opened their room. Good stuff and like 4 blocks from Monkish.
Smog City is still, in my opinion, the best brewery in LA.
Oh and Smog, Monkish and The Dudes are real close to the 405. Like a few minutes off the freeway close.
If you do make it to any of those 3, send me a PM and if I'm not running around to one of my kids' soccer games, I'll head over there and grab a beer with you.

Can vouch for all 3.

I'd definitely hit up the Bruery since Placentia is probably just a 20 minute drive from Cerritos. Lots of beers are available for tasters so you don't have to drop $30 on a bottle of stuff you might not like.
