Tenfidy is crack. I put it above Breakfast Stout. Enjoying a Sam Smith Organic Chocolate Stout right now. Gonna crack my Bell's Mars in a bit.

He enjoys some but not a big fan of the style I guess.

I remember mentioning it in my mini reviews of many of these high rated IPAs. The likes of two hearted, PtE, a couple Maine BC beers, and HT all seem to ride on the smooth balanced IPA front, almost to the point of wanting them to be accessible to everyone. Some IPAs are truly bitter bombs and make it feel like you're sucking on a pine cone. That true lingering hop presence. Those can be a few of the higher rated beers. But for the most part, the balanced smooth nature of the highest IPAs seems to win out.

I see so many people locally trying elevated ipa or project dank, and then blast it online. It's an IPA folks. "Its too hoppy" some say. Dank won some awards so many people gravitated towards just wanting to try it, IPA fans or not. It isnt for everyone. But its review score has suffered.. I guess for the likes of HT, the more that people try, the more they like. WIth dank, some batches you get a sense of a nice tropical sweetness and really no crazy hop bitterness. So people jump to elevated and thats more of a hop bomb with upfront bitterness.

Someone correct me or verify my statements. I dont think they are too outlandish

Having a friend's pale ale right now and reading Randy Mosher's "Tasting Beer". I know what I like, but I can describe almost nothing. Have to develop the palate more.

Pale ale is pretty good - not as hop forward as some, which is refreshing. Malty, solid.

I've had Elevated, great stuff and would love to dry Dank, but it's not out here. I love the hoppy stuff, including the hops up front. What devalues some of these hop bombs for me is the harsh bitterness that comes in on the back end - the kind you taste in the back of your throat.

THAT Sam's Merry Maker is good. I'm waiting for that to come to stores out here. And Sam's White Xmas is a solid winter beer as well.

I don't care for IPAs but I wish I could of got that Mars. I actually got lucky and snagged a couple Venus's and went to my spot again and he had one more just hiding so I snagged it. Here is my small pick up for the weekend.

Absolutely logical statement.

I am not a hop head and I'm not sure I can ever appreciate the hop bombs. That's why my preferences usually sides with IPAs and the smoother, more balanced DIPAs. I'd imagine the preferences of the majority of others tend to follow mine.

yall drink magic hat #9 or is it low quality?

that & sierra nevada pale ale used to be my go to's
#9 was a good introduction to craft beer for me, but it's not something I'd go back and revisit.  Sierra pale is a classic.

All personal preference though.

I'm still a fan of #9 but Magic Hat generally puts out junk

Yall remember their Summer beer made with beets from 09 and 10? I actually liked it but it got killed by beer drinkers

Only thing I can say about #9 is it tastes better on draft than in the bottle. Then again, it all does.

Pretty much.... I love #9 and I'm from Vermont so I got to represent... But I don't think I like any Magic Hate besides #9...thry did a dandelion beer last year that was horrible...

This year's Backwoods is insane. I'd buy a case if I had the space for it.

Interesting..

I loved the '13 and still have one left. I never finished my "other strong beer" category sampling affair from late September.. I guess I'll drink those alongside a '14 BWB soon enough...

CAN'T WAIT!

I think I'm going with a SN snowpack variety set today.. Beer store awaits. Maybe a Xocoveza, Anderson Valley Barney Flats OM stout I have never had. Seems to be rated right up there with other OM stouts.. Maybe some Kimmie, yink, and holy gose AV. Tripel Karmeliet just seemed to hit my TW. It's a belgian tripel. It's expensive though. I'll have to play today very cleanly

btw, neosole89, nice little pickup. That from BA? Do you guys do straight balanced amounts like we do? Or is there a rare factor that escalates the prices?

Yeah it's from BA. All the ones that I've done so far were $4$ although I know the rarer limited beers typically demand more.

Welp. Mission completed. Found everything I had talked about getting and I got nothing more.

Holy gose, A couple months a part between purchases and this is drinking much better. I guess I know what to expect. I kind of prefer this saltiness. Quite refreshing. I may down them all tonight lol. I'd like to get into a Rochefort 10 tonight. We shall see. Nights early

Would never buy this beer but mate popped round mine and handed me this, so I drunk it, as I should have haha
