NT, What Beer Do You Drink?

I grabbed this this weekend.
700

Bought two sets of gifts for two diff. types of beer drinkers.

What would you prefer?

Person A:
-6 pack of Flyingfish Oktoberfish
-1 Ipswitch Dark ale
-1 Weihenstephaner Pils
-1 Bitburger Pils

Person B:
-2 BCBS
-1 kentucky bourbon barrel stout (not my choice. Online reviews are harsh)
-1 Old rasputin
-1 southern star buried hatchet imperial stout (just got distributed here. Ba score is 90. I may have to steal a sip lol)

I'm probably missing naming a beer from each group..

I may have overdone the guy who likes stouts, but not exclusively. Although the guy who doesnt like hoppy beers has a bit of a limited spectrum. He also doesnt seem to prefer the overly high ABV or flavorful stouts.

As far as christmas eve, I have it all planned out.. The second I had Xocoveza, it reminded me of christmas time, with its cinnamon and nutmeg smell and flavors. I will likely down 2 bombers and just go with what's available from others.. Nothing too special. Christmas day, I think we have some steaks planned out. So I may dip into my Marble Imperial Stout stash.. ( i cheated and had some on site Saturday, along with another brewery). I didnt take any home, so my NO package sales til the end of 2014 still stands.

What about you all?

I'm picking Person B. By a lot.
As far as Christmas, I'm eyeing a 2013 Sucaba, a 2014 BCBCS and my bottle of BCBS Vanilla Rye. To be shared with family.

Stout drinkers Unite. It;s hard to get together a solid pilsner or blonde gift set. It just doesnt look right.

Jbug88, that's a great family to be a part of. I can maybe count two, me and the stout (person B) who would appreciate the heavier more flavorful beers during a family event (15-20 others just seem to like what they like.. No difference in 5-20 years of drinking, even though ABQ is on many top 10 lists of top cities for micro brews.. Some families it just doesnt translate... Most seem to like that Budlight Chelada crap or just straight up Bud light bottles, or Dos Equis Lager.. I guess overall, we are a family of flavorless drunks lol

Wally, B for me as well. As for Christmas, I will be cracking two bottles of Xocoveza and a bottle of Hardywood Gingerbread Stout. Very festive I know haha.

I'm saying B by a long shot, but you probably figured that would be my answer.

As far as my festivities, I'm thinking the breakdown is gonna look something like this:

Christmas Eve:

Prairie Bomb!

FBS

Backwoods Bastard

BCBBW

16 oz Growler of 2012 BCBS

A Cascade Sour

Christmas Day:

Christmas Bomb!

BCBCS

Extremely Angry Beast

Alaskan Smoked Porter

A Russian River Sour (or two)

The Gose, Two-Hearted, Limbo, Molotov Lite, and Grapefruit Sculpin shall flow like water as well.

Don't worry...I'm gonna have plenty of help.

Merry Christmas, guys.

Happen to be at my local spot when dude said he got this in. Only had like 7-8 to go around and it was only one per person. I grabbed one ($20, probably overpaid again but what ya gonna do) and can't wait to try it. Maybe on Christmas!

Got caught up beer shopping with some family who asked for some suggestions. Pretty much got what I wanted out of the deal without spending a dime. I hope the suggestions were good ones. I may be the only one drinking them.

AVBC Blood Orange Gose just hit my area (canned date seems to indicate October..). 1 six pack.
Lagunitas Brown Shugga just hit my area. Supper fresh bottles. 1 six pack
1 six pack Pyramid Apricot Ale. Over the past few christmas', this is the beer I tend to session over on christmas eve. I guess you can say I have a sort of tradition that I will continue on with.
1 dos equis lager 12 pack.. Looks like the relatives will stick to this one with my seemingly outlandish suggestions lol.

Thoughts on a 2014 Parabola for an Anniversary XVIII trade?
1:1
I have a guy on Beer Exchange asking to buy all of my Parabola bottles (which I'm not going to sell). But he has some XVIII that I was thinking of asking to trade.
I haven't had XVIII, but I have had Parabola and it was awesome.
If I do the trade, I'll still have a 2013 and a 2014 Parabola cellared.
Looking for some guidance.

Those FW Anni's sit around forever. Can be found easily but also retails for more. Parabola is difficult to find but costs a little less.

I'd keep the Parabola personally.

So person A also got a Avery Brown Ale. But I think person B liking stouts, getting some BCBS, and old rasputin helps the cause TEN FOLD... Like I said, its just very hard to get excited about pilsners overall. So I tried to find a couple of alternatives.

I've been pushing through some SHocktop winter collection beers this afternoon... Very very average stuff. Drinkable as heck with its lighter crisper mouthfeels but almost flavorless. No hops to be seen at all (they are wits though).. White christmas was an upgrade.. I do have a marble Double white witbier growler being opened as we speak.

GOnna try a blood orange gose here in a minute, along with some pyramid apricot ale, and lagunitas brown shugga... It may be a short night but I will make this sucker worthwhile.

Cheers and stay safe.. I got invited to go drinking but had to pass. Cops are crazy. I could have parked and walked a mile or so and had the car there over night but I had to weigh some options.. The home stash probably outweighed what the bar had to offer

My stout rankings from a September tasting had Parabola #1.. I would hold that stuff very tightly or have a better 1:1 trade.

Like everyone else has said, I'd keep the Parabola. 18th Anny is sitting on shelves here.
