The Official Netflix Thread Tho: Recommend Streaming Movies

I hadn't watched Battle Royale for the longest because people led me to believe that the violence was on a Cannibal Holocaust type level, but the movie wasnt even that bad at all. Thought it was damn good, I could imagine that a sequel would be horrible though

any suggestions for funny TV Sitcoms. Ones that follow a storyline kinda like How I Met Your Mother?

Highly recommend Side by Side
The documentary investigates the history, process and workflow of both digital and photochemical film creation. It shows what artists and filmmakers have been able to accomplish with both film and digital and how their needs and innovations have helped push filmmaking in new directions. Interviews with directors, cinematographers, colorists, scientists, engineers and artists reveal their experiences and feelings about working with film and digital — where we are now, how we got here and what the future may bring
Interviews with Scorsese, Fincher, Cameron, Lucas, Lynch, and plenty others. If you're unaware of the debate between film vs. digital, this is a great documentary to bring you up to speed and offer a pretty fair representation of both sides. Some brilliant points made about the experience of movies, the democratization of filmmaking, the future of movies and what the format transition means to everyone.

Big J, I really respect your opinions on film and cinema. You seem to have the same appreciation and passion as I do. Thanks for the recommendation, I will definitely check it out

I recommend you guys to watch fresh is a great film about a kid who goes into the drug game and then I don't want to say the Ray and spoill it

sidenote:

Kate Mara's blouse when she's in Spacey's house... :smh: :smokin

I think I'm really going to like this show... looks very good from the first episode and the reviews have been stellar.

Fighting with Chandler Tatum and Terrence Howard? Heard differing opinions on this one. Rottentomatoes and IMDB give it a low rating. But Leonard Maltin, who I usually go by gave it ***

Anyone see this?

I've seen it. It's ok, the fights in it are ok , nothing you haven't seen before.

The acting is pretty bad tho. The story isn't really good.

I give it a 6/10. But I'm a sucka for wack movies

about to get started on that House of Cards. :pimp:

You have to be patient, because as well made as the show is, nothing, but chess piece moving and character accents happen in the first 7 or 8 episodes. Especially the wife...she has the most basic

Then everything happens.

Pay attention. They don't waste anything, no matter how trivial it feels while you're watching. It all comes back around in the end. They tie the themes of Frank's past so deeply into the ending, that it's just really well done. You feel the weight of all this...misery that's happened all because of one simple little decision.

Except the wife...Princess Bride....yeah every time she's not in a scene with Spacey, she's pretty worthless.

And Kate Mara gets stronger every other episode.
You never could've told me it'd be a contest for which sister was a better actress.
...I mean Rooney, obviously, but Kate's in there.

Been watching House of Cards. Can't believe I didn't start watching it as soon as it first showed up on Netflix. Great show, and looking forward to more productions Netflix puts out.

for those who have watched prison break how many seasons are there and what would you rate it?

I'm just starting the last season (four) now and I have loved it thus far.

As a point of reference I am a fan of the following shows:

LOST
24
Boardwalk Empire
MadMen
Magic City
Newsroom
Breaking Bad
Suits

I think there are 5 seasons and it should have only been 3... Seasons 4 and 5 are utterly ridiculous. The show is very smart and well written, but towards the end it's like they were just holding on for the sake of holding on.

IMO, the casting could have been a little better. T-Bag, Sucre, and a couple other characters were great, but Scofield talking like Batman all the time started to piss me off. I'd rate it a solid 8/10 -- or on a Netflix scale 4/5.

About a week or so ago I decided to watch the "Friday Night Lights" series because the movie wasn't available and damn, where the **** have I been. This show is PERFECT. The casting, acting, script, production, everything -- damn near flawless. It's one of the best series I've ever seen.
