No way man, I think he left with the fake one. The real one stayed behind. THe talk in the bathroom didn't work. The real one still wanted to stay and she did.

The fake one didn't Stop her because she really wanted out of the cabin and back into the happy life. When the Real husband asked the fake wife why she was helping, I know she told him it was because she loved the fake husband and didn't want him choosing the real wife, but she played him. They both played the real husband to both get what they wanted.

 Come on breh
After E2 said F' you all and then said try toescape and tried to trap them there and got violent that goes to show he didnt really love S1. He was a manipulater and she saw that

S2 already said she love E2

E2 was tricking S1 into making her belive he loved her , he did this so he could leave the house. once E2 said F you all and to S1 as well, S1 knows he was lying and iddnt really loved her, and then she comes to terms with her relationship and take it for what it is which why why E1 finally got his bacon at the end.

Basically S1 found out the grass isnt greener on the other side

and basically the retreat did its job and worked!
 From IMDb

It doesn't make sense for real Sophie to suddenly be all concerned about a guy who she found out was a manipulator after the real Ethan gave a speech to win her over. And then after she watched fake Ethan say F you all and try to escape, it made it obvious he didn't really love her.

I agree but I also think the writer implies that he is now living with the fake Sophie. It just isn't confirmed
mental wise yes

the fake sophie is what ethen wanted his wife to be

Actually the fake couple were actually them when they first ,et before they had all their problems. That is why Ethen loved the fake sophie and sophie loved the fake ethen. It was themselves from the past of who they used to be..in love

In the end Etehn have his real sohpie back but he have her how she was in the past like how the fake sophia was. and in return sophia have her ethen of how he use to be when they met

They found themselves again and found there true selves and the love they use to have for each other

Remeber the fake couples was just the real couples past

That was the fake wife, his real doesn't like him eating bacon

Watched based off NT recommendation and it was interesting. Not disappointed, but still some questions left unanswered.

What power or magic enabled the couples left in the guest house to take on the shape of the new couple?

How crazy was it that the real wife got upset at the real husband for pretending to be the fake husband and having sex with her? :smh:

Did Ted Danson's character leave because they found out the truth prematurely or is that just what he does after he sends a couple to that house? I can't imagine anybody who gets to leave will be silent about what goes on there. Yes your marriage has been fixed, but your aren't you anymore. You have to adopt a new identity, new lifestyle and family. **** being married if I have to lose who I am and my blood family right?
Exactly,
Boths wives wanted the fake husband. Real wife was in love with the improved version of her real husband. Fake wife still loved her fake husband and was willing to stay back with him, not get left with the real husband. When the fake wife saw that the real wife was staring at the fake husband after he ran into the force field, I think she knew right there she would lose that battle. Fake husband wanted the real wife. So fake wife decides to leave with real husband
I need to know the answer to your first question also.

Naw it is what i stated above

naw...that is your opinion...the writer didn't give a definite answer...i have a different view...

4one5 4one5 i didn't catch the answer for that one either...when he walked in the "studio" he can hear copies trying to get their voice right...so it can't be the same people from their own past...

I think the answer to his first question is, if you look at the movie in terms of magical instead of what it implied about what a couples therapist does for couples then, you've confused yourself and the movie.

The fake couples (as said in the scene when the fake wife told the real husband that she wanted to help him get back to his real wife so she could have the fake husband) are the real couple and the real couple are the fake couple.

The reason the writer of the movie laid it out the way he did in this movie is because it is one interpretation on what a therapist does.

Therapists helps people look at who they've became as a couple,  and also look at who they were.

The fake persons would represent who they were when they met.

And the real persons were obviously who they had become.

While being counseled, it is the job of the therapist to point out these differences and help them become who they were.

As the movie goes on( or metaphorically the counselling sessions), the wife wanted who the husband used to be, and the husband still loved his wife for who she was and chose who she had become over who she was, in the end.

This movie just tells the story  in a way where there are four separate entities ( 2 wives/2 husbands)

When he was at the computer looking at the files and listening to the recordings of the therapist teaching the fake husband and wife how to act, this is the equivalent of a therapist teaching a couple how to be who they were when they fell in love initially.

The whole movie is a metaphor for counseling and rekindling what you had at first.

All this is my interpretation of course. Confusing?

I love your interpretation of it. I don't think the writer/director meant for it to be that thought provoking/metaphorical, but I can definitely see the connection there. Your points make perfect sense.
