Honestly, Porter deserved to be fired. He had been butting heads with the front office since the day he took the job. Richard Justice was on local radio this morning and said when Luhnow was introducing the team to Porter at Spring Training, Porter kept interrupting Luhnow and all the players felt a very awkward vibe that the relationship would just not last. I'm sure there are many more examples of behavior like this because I'm sure there is just reasoning on Luhnow's part.

However, the question is, how much should Luhnow be blamed for hiring Porter in the first place.

From what I've read, Luhnow was more at fault. That Appel situation was ridiculous :smh:  Astros have a bright future if they can fire this dude and get a more stable presence at GM.

Hope Porter gets picked up by another team as a 1st/3rd base coach or something.

Going to see Mike Trout tonight. Astros have a Tuesday deal, $5 for 2 tickets lol

My body is ready, can't wait.

Agreed. Hope he finds a job somewhere. I'd take him in NY over Terry Collins.
Wally Backman or Chip Hale.

I also like Sandy Alomar, Jr., a whole lot. Joey Cora to a lesser extent.

Milwaukee fading like they drank too much Ciroc.

It was all good just a week ago. How quickly things change in sports, and life.

KC's position in the AL Central doesn't surprise me, one of my better 2014 predictions. Baltimore is proving me very wrong, to J's pleasure. Especially in the loaded East division. Not to mention their rotation performing without needed significant additions. Plus Ubaldo struggling, despite being a centerpiece acquisition.

Credit to Baltimore and all but the East is definitely not loaded.
Prior to the start of the season, everyone would say otherwise. Historically tough competition with good hitting. Red Sox are the defending champs, I doubt many predicted the extreme drop-off. Yanks added Tanaka, McCann, Ells, Beltran. Got Pinedea back and he was dealing before the pine tar scandal and injury. Toronto had a hot first-half, mashing homers and Melky hitting everything. Tampa is known to be offensively deficient, but their arms keep them relevant. Myers out hurt, Matty out for the season was detrimental, then Friedman dealt Price to mail in the year.

Nah, I hear your point. But I mean in season...not the same ALE. Too many injuries/age/letdowns.

But, again, credit to Baltimore for winning with a rotation like that. Pen and offense have been great.

David Ortiz just ran on Jacoby Ellsbury...and won.

That's a 153 million dollar arm with 14 homers and a .288 average. Enjoy, Yankees fans.

4 WAR this year. Still a solid defender excellent base runner.

Seems like a totally totally reasonable contract to me, especially if you are the yankess and you have an insane payroll.

I would totally throw Colby Rasmus off the side off the CN Tower for the opportunity to pay Jacoby 153 million.

I do get why the red soxs said no, with Jackie Bradley Jr coming up.
