i was a diehard a rod fan growing up when he was in seattle n texas. didn't care for him with the yanks obviously but still respected n wanted to see him shatter records. but then he became this real huge moron and now i had enough of his stupidity.

this is how i feel about him

So close to being in Boston. He would be accepted and loved in Boston. They love all their juicers no matter what. Him and Ortiz would have gatorade bottles full of "stuff" around the clubhouse.

Had a VERY quiet offseason, but I hope they can win 85+ games.
About to land Everth Cabrera as your leadoff guy, on a 1-year. Close to $2.4M.

I suppose having Manny for more than half the year offsets partial offensive and team burden from the Nellie departure.

I have always hated this line of thinking from GMs.  In your example, the O's GM and front office probably think to themselves "oh well we have Machado and Wieters coming back this year, so those are basically like free agent signings."

Not that I have anything to complain about, but that's been Brian Sabean's MO for years.  I dont understand why it cant be both adding free agents AND having some of your studs coming back from injury.  But yet, its a very common line of reasoning for GMs.

I read that ARod story, thought it was pretty good.

At the end of the day though 99% of baseball fans right now don't care about ARod and have moved on from the topic entirely. He's not relevant whatsoever and was old news three years ago.

Yet ESPN is going to keep covering this guy like this is Michael Jordan returning for his second run with the Bulls. Right on cue their writers are tripping over themselves to write Alex columns every hour - when there are 10,000 other good baseball stories and angles right now to actually give to readers. Bring on the season!

My man hamels really does deserve better

Before the Shields signing, Pads were pining hard for Hamels. San Diego native, would have formed a nice trio with Cashner and Ross. I suppose Preller could make another splash if he's truly going for broke. A base of Wisler and Hedges should be more than enough for Philly. A player very publicly requesting a trade.
That would be a good start to a trade but you're talking about Ruben Amaro Jr. He has a hard on for Cashner now and would want him in the deal. And I wouldn't put it pass him asking for Wil Myers too.

He won't get that,

Amaro is going to get canned by the deadline or the end of this season. So Hamels will probably have to suck it up for 2015.

Serves him right, writing was on the wall when he signed the extension. Should've tested the market, probably would've received a better deal with a better team. Don't think the Padres can afford Hamels, they got the prospects, but they're payroll is going to blow up in 2016.

Definitely ready for baseball to start already, even though it looks like all radio in 2015 again... stupid Time Warner.
