Don't think I've ever seen anyone call Nomar better than Alex or Derek.

Legacy and entire career wise, absolutely not.  But there was a point in time where I believed (and still do), that Nomar was better than Derek Jeter.  I am a HUGE Derek Jeter fan, but there was a good 3 to 4 year period where Nomar was definitely better than Jeter.

Last season Trout and Stanton had practically the same numbers yet Trout's WAR was 7.9 and Stanton's was 6.5. I thought the difference was defense but the metrics don't even like Trout's defense. I have no idea how that stat is determined.

That's what I thought too. Trout only had 3 more steals than Giancarlo, so it has to be some metric I don't really know about.
