They asked Sandy would you consider it a failure if you do nothing at the deadline, he didn't say yes. **** this team.

Pirates pick up Aramis Ramirez. Really like that move for Pittsburgh, they needed some depth.

Read they were eying Zobrist as well.

Damn near every contending team probably is, expect you know who  .

"We're not looking 4 anyone who's going 2 play everyday. We've gotten good contributions from Nieuwhenheis & peripheral data 4 Campbell" - Sandy Alderson. He just said he only wants to add bench players. **** this piece of **** team. I will never spend money on the Mets till they do something. Boycott these clowns.

Aramis isn't the best 3B but he'd sure as hell be an upgrade over Eric Campbell...

i'm not even a Mets fan & i'm frustrated

I didn't want Ramirez. But he's a good fit for a winning team. I'm just so disgusted by that piece of pewterschmidt Alderson and the comments he made today. We're gonna look back on this season in a few years when two or three of those starters blow their elbows out and realize what was squandered.

I'm just so disgusted and frustrated. I hope Kershaw throws a perfect game

This guy Sandy says the Mets have the ability to take on a major contract. But follows that up by saying he's not looking to add an everyday player and wants to see more out of Nieuwenheis and Campbell.

Cowherd.......:smh: :smh: :smh: :smh:

@HerringWSJ: My God http://t.co/wajIN5Ft2h

biggest piece of **** in sports. he has no soul and will say anything for attention. he's lucky aikman hasn't stabbed him yet.

Just wrote this article and will have it published tomorrow, still need to update the stats at the end of the game, but I felt like it's worth sharing to just show you guys how incompetent my favorite organization is to even suggest Eric Campbell deserves more playing time because of his peripherals. All stats provided by Fangraphs and will be updated at the conclusion of this outing.

Eric Campbell’s Peripherals

In a press conference, New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson cited Eric Campbell’s peripherals as rationale for wanting to see more of the 28 year old. Alderson mentioned the hard contact Campbell made in the previous series against the Washington Nationals.

Campbell has played in 140 major league games. He has a career .227 AVG and has hit six homeruns total in 390 plate appearances. The 28 year old has looked like a replacement player each time he’s stepped onto the diamond for the Mets and quite frankly, may just be one of those athletes who’s labeled as a Quadruple-A guy. Good enough to clobber minor league pitching, but not effective enough to make a true impact at the Show.

Through 55 games this season, he sports a negative-0.1 WAR and 72 wRC+. He’s batting .178 with 3 HR and 17 RBI through 179 plate appearances. On the plus side, he possesses a decent BB%, being walked in 13.6% of his PA’s. He also hasn’t been too much of a liability in the strikeout department either, being K’d 17.6% of the time.

In 2015, he sports a .103 ISO, .202 BABIP, .269 wOBA and .587 OPS. He has a negative-1.7 wGDP, negative-5.5 wRAA, negative-6.69 RE24 and negative-0.35 WPA/LI. With men on base, through 79 PA’s, he’s batting .116. In medium leverage situations, through 63 PA’s, he’s hitting .137. In 23 high leverage PA’s, he’s struck out 30.4% of the time.

To Campbell’s credit, he’s decreased his GB/FB rate to 1.53 from 2014’s 2.00, while marginally raising his HR/FB rate from 7.9% to 8.3%. Unfortunately for the 28 year old, elevating the ball hasn’t made much of a difference for him. For his career, he’s made hard contact on balls in play 29.4% of the time and soft contact 13.3%. Unfortunately, despite the fact that he makes medium contact 57.3% of the time, it doesn’t translate to hits or many sacrifice flies—he has five sac flies in 140 big league games.

He’s made more contact on pitches in the zone this year, raising his zone contact percentage to 90.4% from 2014’s 85.9%. He’s also decreased the amount of pitches he swings at out of the zone to 20.5% from last season’s 26.9%. His swinging strike percentage has also decreased to 8.0% from 2014’s 10.6%. Unfortunately, despite these improvements, he still isn’t yielding any positive results at the plate.

Looking at all of this data, one has to wonder, exactly which peripherals Sandy Alderson has been looking at and precisely why he feels that Campbell is worthy of more playing time, let alone a spot on a major league roster. Hitting isn’t easy, but at the end of the day, the numbers don’t lie. He’s a 28 year old whose never shown promise at the big league level—despite the small sample size, it’s pretty fair to say at this point, he is who he is, a mediocre bench guy at best who can play multiple positions.

Meh I will be damned if anybody throws perfect game or no hitter against the Mets at Citi. I can live it when it's on road.

Mets are already embarrassing anyway.
