The entire point of my posts is that Ichiro backers claim he could do so much more. Hit for power, bat lower in the order, etc. HE WON'T. He REFUSED to do it. Hence, many of my posts.

He would not bat 2nd, or 3rd, or wherever, he wanted leadoff, and leadoff only. So he could slap his singles. And as a leadoff hitter, this "great" hitter that he is, he has merely a .359 OBP, with a laughable amount of walks (Trout has half as many walks, in almost 7,500 less plate appearances. )

He doesn't hit for extra bases. He doesn't walk (make a pitcher work, something a leadoff man should try to do) He doesn't drive in runs, what exactly does he do?

Slap the ball to short, run 90 feet real fast. So he can get stranded on first base. Job well done Ichiro.

Maybe had he batted behind guys, they would get better pitches to hit (since he's such a "good hitter") and then he could drive them in. But no. He just wants to make sure he gets 800 plate appearances a year, so he can outrun 230 ground balls and inch closer to 3,000 hits. Absolutely ZERO impact on making his team better. Zero. Utility infielders have more importance to a team than he does.

I listened to a FanGraphs podcast and one of the guys basically said Ichiro could speak english if he wanted to but pretended like he didn't know how so he didn't need to use it.

The slander though is hilarious.

I'm taking requests today. George Karl in the NBA thread, so Ichiro's name came up, and I fulfilled said request. I'm a nice dude like that.

Aye man, in fairness, I don't slander the Mariners, I don't do the Hawks dirty. I speak true on 2 guys. I praise Griff. I don't get in on A-Rod. I praise Lynch. Felix is a stud. I bash, literally, none of them.

But the praise for Russ and Ichiro, that they don't deserve, I speak on that. It's really that simple.

Who, me?

Naw, I don't think I have anything too bad on any Pitt guys. The Ben jokes come and go when needed, but nothin serious, he's a helluva player. I clowned Troy a little bit in his heyday cuz I thought Ed was much better, but nothin severe or anything. And I like the current Pirates, for now.

Babe Ruth, assaulting refs and fans: hero

A-Rod, stuck a needle in his butt like thousands of other major leaguers: treacherous swine

Amirite?
This post would have earned a rep from me if you didn't refer to the umpire as a ref.  SMFH.

I am a big Ichiro fan, but I don't claim he is some amazing, generational talent with the bat.  He is good at what he does.

I don't see the difference between a chopper to short that the player beats out and a line drive one hopper to the centerfielder.  Just me though.

The one to short doesn't get a guy on second....or even third home

Bases loaded that ends up a double play where the one to the outfield scores two. They are the same with nobody on but other situations they are much different

Another reason why batting average is a terrible stat.

I think you guys over exaggerate how many times he did the weak slap single. He hit the ball all over the field. He just rarely elevated it

You just over exaggerated he hits the ball all over the field.

He hit up the middle oppo and pulled the ball. I swear yall dudes don't even watch games. You just look at these advanced stats that are wrong half the time and make your choices that way

Post all the emocons you want its true. Same stats yall slurp have Brad Miller as arguably the best SS in the AL

He has close to 10,000 plate appearances. Of course he has SOME hits the other way and what not. But his ATTEMPTS were primarily slapping at the ball to speed towards first. I don't get that from analytics you clown, that's from me watching his at bats.

And 10K trips to the plate, with barely 500+ extra base hits, is not "hits the ball all over the place". The majority of his at bats speak quite loudly for themselves.

As than why does your guys holy grail have Brad as the 3rd best SS in the AL and the 8th best in the whole league?

because the shortstop position is the weakest its been in years?

look at those numbers next year when correa and lindor have full seasons of data.

Idk you need to ask FanGraphs  all I know is shortstop is pretty bad as a whole this year so I don't put much stock in anyone's output.
