This is why my dad has grown to hate baseball. He played and attended Mets games religiously as a kid growing up in the Bronx. Back in the day, you didn't worry about pitch count and innings limits because pitchers wanted to pitch. All this tech and advances has made the game and the players soft.

I don't even want anything for him. Real talk, I'd happily repeat the Josh Donaldson deal. **** this *****. You have no heart if you don't want to help your team in the middle of a pennant race. David Wright busted his *** to get back on the field, risking his livelihood to help his team win. Harvey is selfish coward who can go **** himself.

Not even a Mets fan and I feel you

Why you got Mad***** up there tho

If we weren't in a race, I'd be all about and preaching to shut him down. I criticized the Marlins for rushing Jose Fernandez back during a meaningless season. But this is a chance to win a World Series. We may never EVER get back to this level with these guys again. Cespedes will be gone. Wright will be a year older and who knows how his back will be. deGrom, Thor, Matz, these guys could get hurt next year and never return. When you have a chance to win a World Series and do something special, you do everything possible to make it happen. If you don't care enough about winning to risk your life to make it happen, you're in the wrong career.

Because he's the epitome of a winner and warrior, someone willing to risk his livelihood to help his team win. I wanna find the clip of Bob Brenly asking Randy Johnson if he could pitch out of the pen, but I can't find it.

CC pitched multiple times on 3 days rest in a contract year to get the Brewers into the playoffs—a team he had no allegiance to and had just joined.

AJ Burnett has gone on record stating he'd rather blow his elbow out again to try and help the Pirates win this year.

Mark Prior let Dusty Baker abuse him to try and get the Cubs a World Series. Kerry Wood came back from an injury early in his career to help the Cubs make the playoffs when he really shouldn't have.

These are men I respect who care about winning more than anything else.

Honestly, I can't respect a player that shuts himself down and doesn't want to fight as a competitor for a championship.

The only out I'll give him is if he is legit not 100 percent.

Agreed if he's hurt then fine, take the time off, I understand and can respect that. But if you're fine and there isn't any damage, why do you play then? To get a paycheck and nothing more?

Madison already signed a 5 year deal at that point.

Matt Harvey still making league minimum. If the Doc tells me to sit, I'm sitting is Johnnty Red Storm going ot pay me the 100 mill I might lose if I blow my elbow out again?

It's not like he can't take out an insurance policy against injury

If college football players can, I'm sure Matt Harvey can

And what happens if you blow out your elbow in inning 170? Or if you blow out your elbow in your first start next year? None of this **** is guaranteed. Your teammates depend on you, do your job.

He can even sue the Mets if that happens. This is stupid. If you're defending someone who rather value his own well being than helping his team win, then idk what to tell you.

a loss-of-value claim has never been successfully collected from an insurance company by an NFL prospect. If you think those insurqance policies are as simple as you get hurt I give you 50 mill your fooling yourself.

Issurance companies got an army of lawyers to ensure they pay little or never have to pay at all.

also given that he's coming off tommy john I don't think the amount he can realistically insure himself for is all that high.

Boras wants a healthy Harvey so when he gets a huge fat contract, he can get in on some of that $$$

He's not getting 100 mill from the Mets anyway. He's under contract until 2018 and is in the hands of arbitration. So what is he gonna do? Not pitch more than 25 starts a year to get his payday in four years?

What is the point of having doctors if you won't follow their advice. I would defer to the experts, and if the experts reccomend 180, the mets fans can kick rocks becuase they will be the first begging for me to be DFA'd if I blow out my elbow a second time and suddenly can't pitch.

so if Dr James Andrews said the following and he did Harvey's surgery....

400

There's no guarantee stopping at 180 means he'll never get hurt. He can get hurt throwing a damn bullpen session tomorrow.
