Hope Harvey tanks his next start to stick it to the Mets :nerd:

Or is he done already?

He might not want to pitch in the postseason but I don't think he's that petty and vindictive. If he is, trade him in the off season like Buster Olney suggested.

Dwight Gooden spoke on the situation briefly on Twitter.

While I initially thought they should trade Harvey if this continues to be in issue, I realized its best to just keep him unless they get an offer which SIGNIFICANTLY improves the Mets. You don't make trades off of anger and emotion.

Harvey may have diva tendencies, but he's still a great pitcher at the end of the day. He's also under contract on a team-friendly deal for the next three seasons. The Mets are going to get his best effort because he's playing for a megadeal be it with the Mets or elsewhere. If the Wilpons penny pinch and he leaves after 2018 or the writings on the wall during the 2018 season that he's leaving, you trade him before the deadline.

But if the Wilpons do penny pinch, it will set a bad precedent as the Mets are going to eventually cross this same bridge with deGrom, Noah, and Matz at some point where they're going to have to pay these guys. Just because you haven't heard anything public like the Boras Harvey nonsense with any of those guys. I'm sure all three will be about their money when the time comes and understandably so.

But for right now, you got three more seasons of likely quality seasons from Matt Harvey at a low cost. It is foolish to trade him for likely 40 cents on the dollar.

Harvey obviously doesn't know what he wants. Gets pressured by Boras to say his cap is 180 innings, says his cap is 180 innings. Gets pressured by the Mets and hate messages from the fans to pitch til his arm falls off, agrees to pitch til his arm falls off.
