I blame Scott Boras for this mess, where was he to organize how many innings should Harvey pitch at the beginning of the season? Mets were told he can pitch 195 innings, and now 180? wth was that about?

However, I can see why Mets fans are so angry since they have a chance to make the postseason.

I can understand why Mets fans are angry. Haven't made the playoffs since '06. However, they're just turning on the guy like he's not one of the biggest reasons they have turned things around. My best friend is a Mets fan and he's pissed at what Harvey said, but he said he also understands where he's coming from and that if it were his career at stake he wouldn't trust the Mets handling it.

I remember not being upset with the Strasburg shutdown because that was the plan the entire time, so different situation, but the Mets/Harvey/Boras all handled this horribly. They're gonna make the playoffs and a deGrom/Syndegaard/Matz/Colon rotation is nothing to scoff at. Especially if Harvey can come out of the pen and throw 60 pitches, that'd be nasty.

Strasburg was showing signs of fatigue and ineffectiveness so it wasn't as bad of an idea as it seemed. Harvey is sitting here with an arbitrary number that Boras came up with. If he's healthy and there isn't any discomfort, it's pretty selfish to not help your teammates try and win a World Series.

Lost in all of this is the fact his pitches per innings are in the bottom 10% of the sport. Pitches tells more than just innings do.

That is true. But he was quoted saying he felt weak after his last start. Already had a prior dead arm issue earlier in the year. Maybe he's hiding something.

if he's got something wrong, just say it, no one would get angry. i'd be the first one chastising the mets for pitching him through an injury (i did that with matz earlier in the year). but under the impression that he is ok (velo has been consistent, has been pretty effective), i don't see the issue with him continuing to pitch.

the weakness thing, i chalked that up to him packing a fat lip in 95 degree weather

I'd 100 percent blame boras before Harvey.

Y'all really think Harvey wants to cap this at ~180 without undue influence from Boras?

I'm astonished New York City fans are turning on their best player

DeGrom is better than Harvey in my book. Harvey didn't man up and let Boras do this to him. He deserves the backlash. You a grown *** man not a child. He wants the NYC lifestyle, well he has to accept the scrutiny and criticism that comes with it.

Barbs from the guy whose team fans left in the 7th inning...

It's not turning on Harvey, at some point they were going to trade one of the pitchers because they aren't going to pay all those guys. Harvey is the big name guy that could get the most return, only logical to make him the guy eventually.

Like Mets fans don't leave early  I've witnessed it myself. Not going to give Nats fans a pass because the majority of treat the game as a social event or family fun and they care more about the players' feelings than actually winning ex. Drew Storen not being the closer.

But for the Mets the crazy thing about them being in 1st again is the fans that come out of hiding talking about how loyal they are and how all Nats fans are bandwagoners. Mets have been 20th or worse in attendance the last few years, where were those loyal fans? Save me the not giving the Wilpon's money garbage. Skins fans say that about Snyder all the time yet they still show up and that franchise is in a much worse position than the Mets are. I went to school in CT and my first three years there I didn't know more than 5 Mets fans, now all of a sudden bunches of them are tweeting #LGM and whatnot on an everyday basis. Mets fans aren't as great as you seem to think they are.

I love Harper for calling the fans out

He's the heel baseball needs and deserves :pimp:
Harper was right, but the fans didn't leave til the 8th after Matt Williams and the bullpen **** their pants once again. Still inexcusable. But those that left only missed 5 more strikeouts. Wish Harper would've said something like this after a game where he actually did something. He was bad yesterday...0-4 with 3Ks and a horribly misplayed ball that led to 2 runs scoring :smh:

Why would you pay to see an inferior product? Are there bandwagon Met fans? Of course, just like there are of every team including the Nats. I've followed them for over 15 years. You're damn right I'm going to puff my chest out when I get the chance.

You can do whatever you want, I don't care. But calling out another teams fan base when yours does the same thing? That's funny.

First off, don't mistake me for someone else. I never said that. I've left games when I felt they didn't have a chance just like those fans did yesterday. That's their right to. Your outfielder made a story of it. This happens everywhere. As long as he's been playing now, I'd think he be used to seeing that both home and away.

It's gotta be really bad for me to leave early just because you can literally sneak all the way up to the 2nd row behind the dugout when folks leave early

During the Flores walk off extra innings game against y'all I went from nosebleeds to on the field for the last 4 innings
