Another long season for us Cub fans, but I see the signs, I like the direction.
We're lookin at the 4th-5th pick of the draft, on top of a pretty strong group of minor league talent already, got Junior Lake in to see how he does, still has plenty of holes but does have talent. Hopefully he works hard in the offseason.
Only downside is Starlin and Rizzo both had bad years this year, that does worry me. Maybe more talent around them soon will help them, I dunno.
Even with the 4th worst record in the league, our run differential is less than 60. The Phillies have a middle of the pack record and theirs is 117. So we're not as bad as our record shows. We're just young, and we traded away all of our pieces to get even younger.
Once Baez, Soler, Bryant, Almora, and Alcantara get some seasoning, we could have a lot of fun goin forward. Hope like hell those kids actually want it tho. Tampa Bay built this way, took a while, and then just like that they were all ready and became a great young team, but hampered by money. We won't be hampered by money, so we will fill in the blanks, and not have to sell solid young pieces.
Still think we're a ways away next year, but should see at least some improvement, as well as some work for the youngsters. By 2015, the whole lot of them should be up and playing opening day, all still under 26 but ready to go. At least that's how I see the timeline, maybe Theo wants it sooner, I dunno. But Opening Day 2015 is when I expect them all to be on the major league roster. Lookin forward to it.
