Good stance to take IMO:
Last week, Weiner said that the MLBPA wouldn't fight for any players that might be suspended when faced with overwhelming evidence exists that they used performance-enhancing drugs.

Interesting to see if the Brewers take some sort of action with his contact.

Where's Jay02? those were some EPIC homerism back when he won the MVP, when he tested positive and when he won the appeal.

Doesn't cortisone just act as a short-term pain reliever? Essentially it doesn't aid in recovery by attacking the underlying issues, rather it masks its so you can continue on with less discomfort.

Someone page JPZ. I wanna take a look at that homer Jay02 defending Braun relentlessly.

Without saying I agree or disagree with you in this argument with OKB.....I just have to ask a question in regards to the bold.  Don't cortisone shots do exactly what you describe in the bold?

Have you ever taken one?

They numb the pain, they don't make you whole. Not the same in any way, shape or form.

It is still an artificial substance that aid a player in staying on the field.  I am not claiming that they are the same thing.  Just that it seems like taking a steroid to heal an injury is viewed as like burning a Bible, where no one seems to care at all about cortisone shots.

And for the record, the whole negative aura around steroids and PED's in baseball have VERY little to do with them aiding a player's injuries.  You know this.

Not a bad deal for either side on the Garza deal. Grimm is a decent enough 4 or 5... Olt is a nice reclamation project, maybe a change of scenery will serve him well. And Edwards apparently has lots of upside, but young low-level pitchers are always lottery tickets.

A solid back-end starter and two lottery tickets with great upside... Not bad.

If the Rangers want this to be worth it, they have to bring in at least one more (maybe even two) legitimate bat and pray Nelson Cruz doesn't get hammered in this mess now that Braun got whacked.

Apparently we get two players to be named, and in the pool is Neil Ramirez still. So we could possibly get Olt, Edwards, and Ramirez with a backend rotation guy and then whatever the conditions are for the second PTBN? Sounds like we did alright there.

Olt was untouchable last year at this time, is that true? We bought while his stock had dropped? Try to get him back on track otherwise he sits in the Minors with Brett Jackson for the next 15 years.

I'm a couple years from getting to see Castro, Rizzo, Lake, Baez, Almora, Soler, and Bryant. Please God, do me this solid. Let me have all those guys come up together and we'll buy some pitching when the time comes. We don't ask for much, come on.
Theo has signed, bought, drafted, traded for enough RHP to populate a country, sooner or later a couple of them should start panning out I hope.

Rick Sutcliffe just went IN on these guys.

Braun is a joke. I don't know if it's possible, but the dude who lost his job over Braun's lying, better sue the **** out of him.

Also, this quad "injury" by A-Rod. Transparent. No chance in hell he was ever going to play for the Yankees again after the Biogenesis news broke a few months back. Yall think Cashman's anger was just over him tweeting that he was medically cleared to play? Nah...Cashman hates his guts.

 comparing amphetamines & cortisone shots to performance enhancers.

Are y'all just pretending to be This dense? With all the information available i just cant believe what I read

you can take the same athlete and put them on roids and then put them on speed... The one on roids will BLOW out the one on speed every time in every sport and in every physical activiTy

speeds been around a very long.time, and they will never have the effect on sports (including Baseball) that steroids have and will continue to have.

My mind is blown. Blown. To the point where i actually am worried about society

I was just posing the question.  In no way was I saying the effects of steroids and cortisone shots are the same.  I was merely pointing out that the outrage about steroid use in allowing players to stay on the field is a very different reaction than the one given to cortisone shots, which also allow a player to stay on the field.

Again, PEDS are nothing like cortisone shots. Don't even bunch them together, or mention them together.

Athletes who take cortisone shots take them for pain.

Athletes who take peDS take them for improved results. Ppl on are just a couple yea ago thought you had to be big to use steroids, i bet there are still those folks.

Peds allow athletes to work harder longer. 100% of roids headsactually work harder than the clean athletes. That's what the drug does. So you can go past normal human limits. Cortisone and amphetamines do not do that.

I have a Question bc i don't have any stats around, do y'all remember how hard it was to be a member of the 30/30 club? For like 75 yrs there were a handful of those seasons. Since the steroids era, how many have there been? Im guessing A Lot.

looking like that MVP is even more deserving for kemp right about now :nerd:

over 3 million in lost salary too... would have been a lot more if he didn't negotiate a deal out of the 100 game suspension the league was threatening players with.

let's see what happens with a-rod now :nerd:

The Rangers apparently said its only one PTBNL, the report was false. But it does sounds like its probably Ramirez, the Cubs just want more time to evaluate his health concerns...

And yeah, bought low on Olt. He's always been a swing and miss guy, but had some pretty severe issues early this year and missed time with what they called blurred or loss of vision, something along those lines. Been OK since coming back, but not at the level he was last year. He had no position here, so that kinda made him expendable for the Rangers..

Good haul for the Cubbies, for sure.
