Could lead to more celebrations, I guess. ONOEZ!!!!!! Or possibly more guys talented enough to prematurely celebrate and still leg out a triple, which we definitely can't have any more of.
And like I said, my opinion is coming from someone who stays fairly subdued and appreciates guys like Grant Hill, Jason Kidd, Barry Sanders, etc. Anything I've ever done in a great moment, I act like those guys. The Puig theatrics just isn't me.
But although I'm not theatrical, something I definitely am is tolerant. I don't need everything to be done exactly the way I want.
His theatrics had no effect on the game. He wasn't gunned down as a result of lollygagging. He came through for his team... MAJOR... and did nothing vulgar or disrespectful. Would I have done it? Nope... but again, I don't need everything to be exactly the way I do it or exactly how I want it.
The bolded are strawman arguments....as no one has made either of those claims.
The italic, I simply dont agree with. You dont think what Puig did last night was taken as disrespect by the Cardinals? You would be the only one if you dont.
I hate when people discredit an argument based on what the argument is called. "That point doesn't count because it's a strawman argument."
Awesome. On a debate team, you get a point or I lose my turn or however that goes.
Everywhere else, however, that doesn't matter. "No, it does matter. Everyone must now the nuances and intricacies of a well-built or poorly built argument!"
Yeahno. I've said many times before that I equate online sports discussion to a bunch of guys sitting around discussing sports and watching a game. Let some dude come up like "Nope, strawman argument. Next! Nope, rhetorical question. Next!" Address what was said w/ an opinion all your own, or leave it for someone else.
And having said that:
"Luckily he had the speed to get to third, but if the Dodgers woudl've lost, how foolish would he have looked for celebrating the way he did?"
Essentially, I read this as "If he didn't get to 3rd... and if the Dodgers lost..."

That's definitely "What will become of this?!"
And do I think the Cardinals were disrespected by his bat flip? As in THE CARDINALS... not SOME CARDINALS? No, I don't think all of them were disrespected, and I'm sure there's some label for a flaw in an argument based on not having facts that are completely accurate. I would assume that not ALL Cardinals were disrespected, so it would be inaccurate to say "The Cardinals were disrespected" as opposed to "Some" or even "A majority", and I would also assume you haven't personally asked every single one of them.
Not all Dodgers are ok w/ Puig's antics; not all Dodgers are offended.
Not all Dodger fans are ok w/ Puig's antics; not all Dodger fans are offended.
Not all Cardinals are ok w/ Puig's antics; not all Cardinals are offended.
Not all Card fans are ok w/ Puig's antics; not all Card fans are offended.
So that brings our discussion down to just you and me.
You never asked me if I personally found what he did offensive; instead you asked if I think the Cardinals were offended.
Obviously I didn't have a problem with it.
Seems you do.
Cool, but is that based on the integrity of the game? Because that's just not something that is SUPPOSED to be done?
Or because you... yourself... don't like it?
