Jarred Cosart has a .96 era after 4 starts with the Astros. His strikeout numbers don't quite match his stuff yet. He throws a very hard cutter, 94+, so sustaining a low babip isn't out of the question. He's only 23 years old. It's gonna take a couple years for all the prospects to develope, but the future really is bright in Houston.

jose fernandez is making this season enjoyable as a marlins fan

if yelich, morrison and stanton can stay healthy along with turner

and colin moran pans out then this can be a contender in 2-3 years

The depth of JoFer's slurve is insane. It might be the best pitch in baseball. Good luck hitting it.

It's not that I don't like him. I just don't think he's some ace that people make him out to be after last year where he stole a Cy Young. He's a good #2. I don't think someone who throws as many fastballs as he does right over the plate will work outside of a place like Tampa that 1 - suppresses power and 2 - has a phenomenal defense behind him.

Over the past 3 years, he has 3.33 era in the road and 2.55 at home. Most pitchers have a lower era at home, guess it is just a comfort factor.

He's able to throw so many fastball cause of his velocity and arm angle. It is just a tough pitch to square up. I def wouldn't hold that against him.

His career FIP and xFIP are .3 higher than his era. I don't think it's really fair to penalize any pitcher for having a good defense behind him. It def can impact the way a pitcher throws though, but at the same time I think he has the stuff to boost his k% if he needed to.

Like I said, I'm not going to go back and forth about it a lot. I did this way too much  I think we'll see the "real" Price when he's in Chicago or something next year.

theo epstein is that chick that still wants to spend like she

has her dads credit card but has to deal with a new poor credit line

I don't think the cards will skip a best. They are too talented up and down their roster for a major collapse and still have to be the favorite to win the central.
For baseball fans who don't follow the Cards day to day it's common to think Molina being out would hinder their play, that's not the case at all though. This team will continue to win and that slump they just climbed out of is normal is a long season. This is the best Cardinals team in recent memory and after last years epic collapse in the NLCS; I believe this team is focused on only one thing this year.

North side, or south side Chicago??????? :nerd:

I'll take Price, do we have a shot?

The earliest price can be a free agent is 2016. So we're still a little ways away from that. 2 years.

He'll get moved this winter, it's the Ray way. Ship him off because they can't afford the arb price and have a year of team control to sell a team. They'll get a good haul this winter.

CP, I think he's going to you guys.

Just saw the schuck catch :wow: :wow:

Jose bautistas reaction   dude was like "AWW C'MON SON...!" haha

I don't think he's gonna get traded. The rumors of Price being moved remind me of the Stanton rumors from early this year. When a guy has that much talent, you don't trade them or let them walk. There's a big difference between not signing guys like BJ Upton and Carlos Pena, and having money to pay star players like Longoria and Price. The Rays have one of the best front offices in baseball. No matter how many prospects you get in return for Price, they probably won't match his value.

See, I thought you were talkin he would be a free agent.

But if we have to TRADE for him, then that gives me great pause. Cuz I know they'll want some of our pieces, and I don't think I'm ready to do that yet. We just now starting to get a young group of players to grow together, I don't know that I want to break off 2-3 of those pieces right off the bat.

We'll see what the price tag is for him, but if it's high, I rather just chill, go into next year, another top 7ish draft pick, grab another pitcher to put into the group, let them develop another year, and roll the whole crew out at the end of 2014 in anticipation of 2015 being their time. We can continue to add quality value types along the way to fill in the gaps. Ala Edwin Jackson inning types. Or Shierholtz rotational lineup guys. Another Travis Wood like find.
Once they all get established, then we can go buy a #1 or #2 starter, hope that either Vizcaino or next year's SP is 2015 ready, and Smarjida (never gonna spell this right, ever).

We'll see. I rather stay in seller mode another year rather than flip to buy Price, if he's a FA, then I'll have interest, but not at costing me pieces + big contract, too rich for my blood at this point in the roster building. Need to see what we have guaranteed first.

BJ Upton and his .177 average have been activated from the DL lol

Braves' employees should plant some PEDs in his locker.

Just a heads up. Whatever you do, don't change it to MLB Network. There is a hour long special on Hawk Harrelson.

Gun to my head.
