Why the hostility? Im not over it because I was never under it to begin with. I was just saying it was a waste of time for the Mets brass to sit with them.
If Cano and Jay-Z approached them, why wouldn't they go sit with them?

If the Mets know Cano is asking for X amount of dollars, and they are only willing to spend less than X, it seems like a waste of time.
I guess they at least wanted to hear Mr.Carter spew a few bars.

Just trying to drive up the price for the Yanks pretty much

Exactly. Which (for now) doesn't seem to be working. It's a whole cluster **** of a situation. Jay is either going to make him rich or make him hated. The guy dumped Boras because he was refusing to sit down with Cashman and Levine + throwing out extremely high contract numbers. He looks like a huge hypocrite right now.

Still no excuse for the papers to be killing him

I don't blame any player for trying to maximize his worth, however, he needs to realize what his worth is.

The numbers Cano is throwing out there,, is basically him not realizing what his actual worth is.

He has incredible offensive numbers, but plays in a hitters park and doesn't play a premium defensive position. No one is dropping major dough on a second baseman. Should've asked for a bit more than what Pedroia got from the Red Sox.

Also, there is no market for him. Tried to drag the Dodgers into it, they gave him a courtesy meeting, they tried to drum up that rumor and then Guerrero gets signed. Simply because if you are going to drop over $200 mil, why drop it on a second baseman already on his 30's as opposed to your two time Cy Young winner that is still in his mid-20's.

I just don't see the market, Yankees should put out a number and let him find a better deal.

For those wondering Pedroia got an 8 year/$110 million deal from the Red Sox that kicks in next season. Yanks should offer 6 years $125 mil.

The $310mil was to forgo FA.

But there's really not a huge market for Cano because teams know they have to outbid the Yankees by a lot to steal Cano. And if Yankees are willing to go $180 for 7. There's really not much room for any team to go. You'd have to go over $200 for 7 years.

Any Rangers fans on here?

What's good about David Murphy?

I'm not a Rangers fan but I'm familiar with David Murphy. He's a solid average major league player. Had the worst year of his career this past season. Has great lifetime numbers against righties. Probably more of a very solid platoon player than an everyday player.

A-Rod walked out of his hearing after the arbitrator said that Selig doesn't have to testify. His lawyers are filing a complaint against MLB.

#FreeARod

A-Rod walked out the meeting then went straight to a press conf with a reading off a paper that expressed his disapproval. This is so rehearsed.

Was researching bad, long contracts for work last night.

Hampton, Sori, Utley, Pujols, A-Rod, Prince. List goes on.

There was 25 I wrote down. Will post when I get back to the office.

Also researched 2B contracts. Nothing close to what Robbie is asking. Pedroia is far and away with just over $100M.

Kinsler, Utley, BP, Uggla not even remotely close to Cano's asking price.

Not condoning or agreeing with Cano's asking price, but one of those guys you listed are even close to being as good as Cano.

Completely agree. Just saying the position and market dictate what type of contract you can get.

Nobody is pining to give Robbie the albatross he wants.

Cano's been doing everything better than them (outside of Pedroia's fielding) for a couple years now.

You cannot use his home ball park against him. There's only been one year in his career when he's had a huge split. He hit more road HR's last season.

You won't find another second base contract like Cano's. There hasn't been a second baseman like him in this age of contracts.

The only issue (albeit, a big issue) working against Cano is that he just turned 31 and 10 year deals seem to be the fad.

What's a fair compromise then. NYY can't afford to lose Robbie. Robbie doesn't have a serious suitor in LAD or NYM to incite a bidding war.

Does 6/150 or 6/180 get it done for both sides.

Also working on Geno vs. Sanchez numbers contrasting 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Eli during the win streak opposed to losing streak.

Eli last season compared to this year.

Knicks without Chandler numbers. Poor rebounding stats.
