This ballot should be another doozy

Greg Maddux (should be 100% unanimous, won't be, then we'll all laugh as usual)
Tom Glavine
Frank Thomas
Mike Mussina
Jeff Kent

Added to:

Barry Bonds
Roger Clemens
Mark McGwire
Sammy Sosa
Rafael Palmeiro
Craig Biggio
Jack Morris
Mike Piazza
Tim Raines
Alan Trammell
Lee Smith
Curt Schilling

:x wow

Damn near all these dudes should be in. I'd vote for almost all of em.

IDK what happened there, I thought I posted the BR slash for both of em. Think MM was at 82.7. Moose wasn't too far off BAPIP-wise, I think his last few years with those atrocious Yankee infields bloated it.

Don't get me wrong, I think they're both HOF'ers. I just think the 300 win thing is the only thing keeping Moose out.

Every time I saw Haren pitch he gave up Bomb after Bomb

Haha I'm legitimately interested in how he still managed to get a $10 mil/yr contract. Thankfully, as a Rays fan, I don't have to worry much about us giving out bloated contracts for pitchers!

Haren cursed the squad......any other pitcher in his spot = playoff berth
Well, the offense couldn't hit for **** until late July/early August....but I agree. Every time Haren trotted out there it was almost a given that we were gonna lose. Hopefully we can get through the year without injuries to Harper/Werth/Zimmerman/Ramos. Those are the keys to the offense and they combined to miss 176 games last year. If they can stay healthy for a majority of the season we should be alright.

I always was a fan/wanted Haren on the Yanks, but his alarming HR rate is more than enough to pass. Especially at $10M.

I see that article on ESPN about us goin after Ellsbury, and I agree with some of the points, but I don't think Theo is in a hurry to start passin out 100 million dollar deals after he just got out from all the ones we had before.

I like the "idea" behind it, but not the price tag.

Then again the article only focused on the everyday lineup, I need to see what the staff would look like before I would be ok with adding 100 mil for speed and defense.

He's not that bad of a hitter either and can get on base at a decent clip.

Plus, those guys tend to age very well so that counts for him too.

I think he's getting a bad rap TBH. He'll never show that power again but for some reason, people are dwelling heavily on that. He won't be worth a nine figure deal but for 5/$80mm? Not a bad deal at all for a team close to contending.

It sounds like no one wants him though, which I think is kinda insane. I could see him getting a Bourn like deal and being an absolute steal.

They'll flip Shark into a couple good prospects from AA and sign someone like Fausto and it'll look like a decent off season for the Cubs.

Ellsbury is a solid player. Glove, bat, speed, IQ are all great but he has too many random injuries for that big pay check. Not worth it.

I would say he has an extremely bad rap as being injury prone.

He's crashed into Beltre & cracked ribs, hurt his shoulder on a slide and fouled a ball of his foot. I'd just call that unlucky.

And you think the Cubs are what, lucky? Kid will die in our uni.

Shark?

 I hear you.

But he's not injury prone, those are just unlucky injuries.

Come on man, what kinda Cubs fan are you?

Shark = Samardzija.

Not one that calls another guy Shark.

I assumed that's who you meant, but wasn't tryin to guess like a damn fool.

I'd love to flip him, but I think Theo wants to keep him because he's cheap and eats innings like skittles. But if he can get more prospects, sign me up. I want a real farm, top to bottom producin for years and years. No more 1-2 kids then nothin for a decade crap. :smh:

I couldn't spell his name in Notre Dame. I still have to copy and paste it. You're ******g right I'm gonna call him Shark

Think you will, especially if a team like AZ or Pitt gets outbid for Price. Those are the two teams you want to be trading a guy with two years of control left to. Because you'll get stud arms back.

I just type smardjajgpadoaa and people get who I'm talkin about.

And I can type it different ways and people still get it.

yeah i don't think he's a $20M man.

now $80M for 5 years....that's perfectly acceptable and i'd keep him in boston for that. but i don't expect him to sign a deal like that. more years or more dollars.

I'd give Ellsbury $20 million a year, wouldn't wanna lose a draft pick though.

Ellsbury
Zimmerman
Werth
Harper
Desmond
LaRoche
Ramos
Rendon

I'd love that lineup. Or even swap out LaRoche with Napoli...but that's being greedy.

Decent signing for them.

Todd Jones is a funny dude

jaysonst Jayson Stark
Here's his "official Todd Jones release: "The HOF is for greatness...No one w the nickname `Roller Coaster' should ever be considered..."
Rest of Todd Jones' "official release" says: "The only thing the HOF will let me in for is to use the restroom." My take: Humility is cool!

Todd Jones played 16 seasons in the majors. That's pretty damn impressive IMO. Obviously not HOF'worthy, but impressive nonetheless.
