That's my bad, I meant to post and tell you I had you after you posted

Again, let's not use batting average to determine how good a player is. Use the OBP or OPS. Better barometers. I prefer something like wOBA as well. Helps paint a better picture.

Was that in the video you posted? I read about it but I can't see the vids at work unfortunately. I skipped your post because I couldn't see the vid. Your link takes me to an article about Texas football though

It just furthers my notion that we need an electronic strike zone, dedicated scorers and only 3 umpires

you have to scroll down on the link, it has more than one story, didn't think i'd have to explain that

i'd like you to watch the at-bat and let me know

never noticed this ever before out of the live games i've watched

 I don't really read Yahoo for sports articles, didn't know they did multiple in one for a Yahoo minute.

I can't fault anyone but Jay and the umpire. As a hitter, you need to be a little more aware at the plate of the count. I mean, how the hell else are you supposed to approach the next pitch if you don't know the count? The whole thing is head scratching but Jay not knowing the count is crazy to me.

I was ejected from one of my games last summer because an umpire screwed up a count.  It is unacceptable IMO for that to happen.  I blame Jay also.  Inexcusable for a hitter not to know the count, as a hitter's approach should change based on the count.

If I had to guess, you aren't old enough to have watched McGwire and Sosa in the early to mid 90's, am I correct in that assumption?

offence was up throughout the mid 90's to 00's. not becuase of steroids but

1. Expasion thinned the quality of pitching.
2. the baseball was juiced (please don't argue with me on this)

because of that Mark Mcguire and Sosa's offense was a bit less impressive., plus they were poor defenders.

HOFers for sure but not quite an arod, griffey level talent.

if griffey, stayed healthy, and stayed in shape, he could have been breaking records as well.

Sammy was a poor defender, in the mid 90's?????

Cuz he was second in defensive WAR in 96, 3rd in 95, 10th in 93, and the "down year" of 1994 he was still at 1.1.

Pre juice, mid 90's Sammy was pretty solid defensively, with an absolute cannon.

Come 98 (juice) he fell off cuz he was too big of a human to move.

Again, I don't think many of you saw mid 90's Sammy play. He was electric as hell back then, a free swinger, but all the tools. Power, arm, speed, he just tried to hit everything to Comiskey was his problem.

w3ell obviously i was talking about juiced sammy.

Little sammy could move.

Ok, we on same page then.

I separate the two because he became a completely different player. I happened to LOVE mid 90's Sammy. I just wanted him to cut down on his K's. Everything else was awesome.

Just heard on the radio, supposedly Philly tried trading Howard and were willing to eat most of the contract. No one wanted to trade. Kind of surprising if true

Difference between a .275 and .300 hitter is one extra hit within a two weeks span.

Forgot where I heard that from but I think the math checked out last I checked.

^ Avy to post ratio :nerd:

But nah, Junior's got a show? Called what? What time? I'd watch. :smokin

You need that 1,000 rep man. You deserve more than that for this thread alone. :smokin
